We've lost the argument in favour of games being art at this point. Maybe a remaster, some touch ups, fixes, a rerelease for modern consoles, bringing attention to the game that started it all, some appreciation. Nah just another remake. I've said this about AC4 and I'll say it for this too. Why not just go back to Altair's era and make a new game centered around him or the changes he made to the order after the events of the first game with a new protag?
Would it have been so hard to just make another AC take place during the age of pirates?
It's 2026 and basic match making features in MP games are still being drip fed to an audience that still gets excited over said basic feature being implemented.
There are people that get offended seeing others just enjoying a moment, or enjoying a hobby, or just having fun.
Don't think they'll achieve that if they keep the arrogant attitude they've had for years now. The people they've put in charge keep following trends, or don't see the value in their old games too. Pointless remakes to games they've no interest in ever working on again. The focus on AAA, And I might be in the minority but they've been playing it safe with their games. That's the funny part. Its just "insider" info but they haven't actually said anything themselves. Fanboys on this site have been on "denial mode" since the rumour popped up. People really think they aren't profiting off a platform as open as PC's are, and still using the whole "piracy" excuse that's been used since the 90's.
Disney doesn't exactly have the best rep when it comes to partaking in gaming. They've built studios just to shut em down, not to mention just how much of an over the shoulder nuisance they are. If Epic wants to see Unreal Engine be dismantled and lose its hold on the industry then by all means. Also say goodbye to Fortnite because they will definitely kill it off with all the horrible decisions they'll force onto Epic.
I really hope they do exactly that, but these companies often don't operate in the real world. I may be in the minority but if this gen lasts til 2030 maybe even a further bit I personally wouldn't mind at all. I don't own a PS5 but I don't think people have really gotten a bang for their buck quite yet, let alone has the hardware even been fully utilized. I mean if they're getting paid then I'm not complaining, but wouldn't it then make sense for there to be smaller teams and more AA productions? They shut down studios and fire in mass but then rehire as many as they fire to find another big budget game. It's an endless cycle of remedying the problem and then causing it again.
I'm assuming whatever plans they have for next gen are put on hold indefinitely. I don't even wanna see what the price of the next Xbox is going to be.
The strategy these past couple of years from all these companies seems to be to fire as many people and close as many studios down as possible. Paying employees is wasteful spending after all.

GOG exists, you can buy a game on GOG and make as many digital copies of that game across as many hard drives as you want and never worry about touching the launcher other than to purchase more games. Fake frames and fake resolutions should enhance an already well optimized game. Industry been moving in the wrong direction since these pro models came out last gen. The PS360 gen couldn't even deal with 720p res without tanking fps, PS4ONE gen started pushing for 4K when they couldn't even push beyond 900p/720p, and current gen can't run at 1080p/60 fps without dynamic resolution or some AI trickery.

Don't get the point of opening a studio to make a guaranteed flop. They didn't have enough funds to keep people employed so that they could keep the game updated, which meant the game was going to shut down with or without their GOTY announcement. They had the talent, they could've been rolling in that successful indie game money if they had just made something else with a price tag. It's crazy.

Nothing will ever convince me that a controller should cost 100 bucks but I know for a fact that this will be better than all the official console controllers combined. The Steam Deck has the best controls I've ever used, the extra buttons and touch pad is something desperately needed in gaming. You really notice when you play a game on PC that uses a keyboard, once you switch to a controller there's mechanics you lose out on because of the current console controller scheme.
