Lose the real guns and any ties to real life. We're craving for yet another zombie shooter, aren't we. CoD, you've fallen low..
No need to stir up bad blood between the older generations of gamers.
No need to go into dreamcast/ps1 fights because back then, every console rocked and we all know it.
Most of us grew up to be tolerant, intelligent folks without a trace of degenerate fanboyism that the crowd is infected with today. So don't go making yourself look bad over stuff that's totally untrue and unnecessary as a topic.
Instead, be happy that folks will get a chance to rock some old ...
You've gotta be kidding me. After 30 years, if this is the year to be called golden, it makes all the effort pointless. Stupid regression-driven industry.
How about giving people a 1000kg of clay and telling them "make a game", like The Neverhood?
Oh that's right, about 99% of the devs wouldn't be able to pull it off.
Neither did 99% of the members here even hear about the game.
Now, I didn't play all the DMC's so i gotta ask you fellas.
How does a character history similar to Wolverine's fit into Dante, hell, and middle-age 20-floor castles? Also, robots were brought into play. And Prototype-esque weapons.
So far I'm seeing a lot of baby brothers out there:
Infamous, Prototype, the new Castlevania, God of War, DMC reboot, Dante's inferno..
Way to oversaturate a genre.
The oldies that were only 1 genre related, no sub-genres, still kick ass more than most new ones. Not that there aren't good fresh tracks out there, but they're helluva hard to dig up.
fps/rpg mixtures existed before Borderlands, but not a lot of folks have the guts to go that way because they gotta do a pretty lengthy extra mile to make it worthwhile. Hence the shitstorm of generic cloned fps's.
Ok this is getting weird. A lot of people connect Heart of Darkness with Abe. Heart of Darkness was actually my first game on the good old PSX. Followed by Abe. I liked both so damn much.
Definitely some chemistry going on about those two games.
Also, what I love about these types of news is, there's no fanboy hatred and all that bull. Just genuine fans coming together at a name-drop of a really good oldie.
Abe and Oddworld were really something else. One of my fondest memories ever, I'd appreciate anything new Abe related so friggin much.. They kinda lost me with Munch and Stranger's Wraith but that didn't take away the special place I hold for Abe and the Oddworld Inhabitants.
Truly an amazing world, story, atmosphere.. everything.
Today's devs can only stack themselves in a dark corner and cry wishing for being creative as Odd Inhabitants. Actually th...
Japanese invented "silly". Westerners can only dream being as goofy as them. Japanese took it to a whole new level decades ago, and continue to sit on the throne of weird, silly, goofy, and.. well, japanese. Can't describe it in other words.
I'll wait for the gazillion TB version that takes up most of my house and most of my town's electricity. Seriously, why go to such lengths with dated technology, when will the fog machines stop and start working on new tech with less useless iterations in 4 digit model figures. Most of the games accept lower ranges of cards pretty well. I hope this one fails in sales to teach the manufacturers a lesson.
and yeah, "gazillion" was an MF Doom reference.
It's what -you- call a complete and epic game, mind you :)
PSX generation games is what everyone called a complete game, before "epic" was raped all over the internet and even necessary as a term.
And I'd call that quite the flaw. It's practically impossible to do a walkthrough for UC2, all you can do is a run-through, cuz levels are 5-10 minutes long for the most part. Every 2 minutes came a scripted cutscene, then I ran a bit, cutscene, run, end of level. repeat for some time, shoot a little, end of the game. Doesn't sound flawless now does it.
Seems to me like the author should've just said
"I had higher personal expectations for Mafia 2".
I don't remember the developers hyping the game up nearly as much as you make it seem. The title just about describes the game perfectly - a sequel of Mafia. No one expected jetpacks and MiG's (you'd love that wouldn't you gta fans), everyone expected pretty much what they got. A solid storyline, upgraded graphics (the engine seriously rocks,...
I've addressed the likes of you on page 2 :)
Since when are particle effects bad? Blur and HDR are not "some years ago", they're here to stay, as seen in every game.
Reality check, please.
Utilizing those tools in a practical, realistical way resulted in Killzone 2 and 3. You won't find a more realistic, heavy-looking gun model elsewhere.
And um, yes, KZ really DID beat Rage here. Or were you standing about 5 metres away ...
But that's a bit unfair now, blaming the hardware itself for not being able to run something. We all know it's Windows who choke the sh*t out of pc's, otherwise the horsepower would eat ps3. I always prefered consoles for that reason, it can grow 5 years old and still chew up anything you throw at it without blinking a framerate. It's all in the money, in the end..
I don't get that. Ok, you're a fanboy and all, but why turn out to be a near-blind retard so vigorously?
In this Rage ss below, just take a look at the floors, walls, pipes on the right. It's LOW RESOLUTION TEXTURING. Kz2 had the same, but cleverly placed and disguised so they weren't that visible and irritating. Kz3 will have the same. But again - smarter camouflage.
It's simple facts visible to the naked eye, it's nothing bad or game...
Opening a map as seen on 4:10 is cool.
What's not cool is that these are still low-duty demos. Try steering something full o' polygons in a qucik shooter placed in a massive war environment.. might easily lag a little.
However, Move/dualshock combos would be nice in a few games. To up the difficulty of whatever action you gotta pull off, and make you break a sweat as well. Much potential, but even more fear of this indu$try will be... (ab)using it.
Now that's how you make and present a game. I'd pick this over a live circus any day.
Me and my crew had the same idea a few times, but decided that the net would burn to ashes in a matter of weeks if we started writing articles, hence we remain in the shadows, lighting candles for old games and spitting used ale at new ones :)
Oh and I can't play Dead Men because I've got the low framerate bug, and it's a real shame, it seems great. K&L2 demo blew my mind.
requires as little room as your own casket.
