Typical, I’ve seen this recently with PSP games I’ve purchased in the last year having an expiration date too. Not to mention some PSP games I own I have to rebuy on PS4/PS5 while my PS1 games are free to download except Resident Evil 1.
It's causing the controller is have terrible input lag, the partial solution is to wire the controller it's helps me be able to actual play the game. It's still unacceptable however given how much I spend on the game and just dropped $150 to get the collection content before finding out there was a problem.
Also, Respawn has yet to even acknowledge the issue and that's upsetting players.
