Lol this doesn't make sense. Sony owned ND and they one part of Sony Worldwide Studios. Also, ND isn't the only studio that will produce great games. There's Sony Japan Studio (Bloodborne, The Tomorrow Children), Polyphony Digital (GT 7), Sony Santa Monica (new IP), Guerilla Games (new IP), Sony Bend (new IP), etc.

Did you mistaken Bamco with SEGA or SE? Because Bamco track records in localization still far better than SEGA or SE. They localized:
- Ni no Kuni
- most of main Tales (this year alone they localized 3 games!)
- Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
- Jojo's Bizzare Adv All Star
- Digimon All Star Rumble

Yeah. Tales series is mainstream in japan. But outside japan, people still see it as a niche series just like Persona, YS, Disgaea, and many JRPG.
I still like Asbel even though his not my most favourite protag in Tales series.
But i agreed. Sometimes it's better to use simple character rather than complicated character who got depressed or too emo right from the start of the game.
It's really a nice change of pace after you played a lot of JRPG with complex and sometimes borderline 'crazy' character like Drakengard 3, Nier, or P4.
It is best to wait the official announcement / gameplay trailer of RE 7 and how much Revelations 2 and RE HD gonna sell.
Right now capcom are focused on Revelations 2 and RE HD. If both games exceed their expectation (i heard capcom target 1 million copies for Revelations 2 and HD) than there's a big possibility RE 7 will back to the roots. Although i'm sure it will not completely the same like classic RE.

For Disgaea, if you love SRPG with story full of comedy, deep gameplay, lots of replay value than Disgaea is the right choice ^^
So far i really love it. The story is light enough if i compare to the recent release like Tales of Xillia 2. The party still likeable even though Shing / Kor is a bit cliche like Asbel.
The important thing is the battle system are great and satisfying. Juggling enemies in the air, parrying / counter, etc are enough to keep me playing for hours ^^
