YES, amazing list. No Man's Sky has a great deal of potential and I've been waiting for an amazing underwater game since Treasures of the Deep nearly 15 years ago.
I am actually excited about this new CoD with all these new gameplay mechanics (at least to the series) and arsenal upgrades (e.g., grenade types, weaponry).
That takedown move on the soldier was pretty badass. That wasn't in Ground Zeroes was it?
looks great, but i can't help but think it'd benefit from a quick about-face action (like in Uncharted [X + down on analog stick]) instead of having to walk backwards which the guy did twice in the demo.
looks like a gameplay evolution for the series. The enhanced jump/double jump, dash mechanics, detachable cover, and new weaponry (e.g., grenades, shockwave weapon) should make a sizable difference in gameplay and seem to advance the series more than any other iteration before it has.
Pleasantly surprised with the gameplay trailer.
one of the most helpful articles in a while, thanks.
I thought the major point was with the PS4 (or any console), there is a common set of hardware with which you can work to optimize towards. With PC development, you have to consider performance across different specs.
Children of the Atom definitely needs to be on the list.
Transistor, Tower Fall Ascension, Fez, Sound Shapes?? Sounds like you're only looking for entertainment with big-budget titles.
@ ZodtheRipper
actually, technically not "underage" because the government that defines the arbitrary age restriction for consent is no more.
Here are some things I've enjoyed recently that could make me care less about Ground Zero's price: shot at bar ($12+tip), beer at bar ($6+tip), drop-in [1 hour] yoga class ($18), [2 hour] parking in city ($15), Uber cabs/cars for night out ($15-45), popcorn at movie theatre [once] ($6), gourmet coffee [once] ($5), maid service [2 hours] ($40). Come on guys, $20 for a digital purchase (or even $30 for the hardcopy) isn't that much...
So, the original Bioshock, a 6 hour game that originally cost $60 (3 times the length, but 3 times the price) doesn't deserve 9/10s?
I'm not totally against this. We are already quite spoiled as gamers and let's be honest, I spent $60 on one round of shots at the bar this past weekend, so $30 for MGS goodness is totally fine with me!
South Park (amazing, btw), Dark Souls 2, and Titanfall beg to differ. But, yeah... incredible month! Game looks amazing though and even better than I imagined.
the right hand (or left hand for some)
Palitera, I'm just saying that for fanboys like us (who want the game to receive the recognition we feel it deserves), a 72/100 can be a huge hit to an average. I feel similarly about Gamespot's 7/10 to the new South Park game (which I am currently at the end of and LOVE). So, sometimes, we will lash out at reviewers when they bring up things we don't think will be an issue (despite not having played the game yet in this case).
Now, I totally understand the backla...
I agree Captain Qwark 9, but I thought his major concern was actually this (which seems legitimate in my eyes):
"It isn’t just trial upon trial though, as there are also plenty of technical flaws that will bury the perfect structure of design Dark Souls 2 has built its combat on. Nigh impossible progress is set on muscle memory in addition to luck as the deciding factor. Collision detection is filled with holes, probably due to the immense size of the RPG, allowing enemi...
The author actually brings up legitimate gripes (if they are indeed true). It seems like a realistic review that Demons/Dark Souls fans (including myself) just immediately dismiss because it comes with a 72/100 score (thus screwing with DS2's chance at AAA status on aggregate review sites). For everyone who just jumps to conclusions, he does have high praise for many aspects of the game. It's just that the glitches seem to ruin it for him.
Like the original Bioshock, it doesn't matter how long the game is. I will take 15 hours of quality (or 6-8 hours in Bioshock's case) over a longer, less-consistently enjoyable experience any day.
Can I fulton all the clothes that have been left out to dry and turn my Mother Base into a premier retail destination?
