Oh, thats an easy one to answer. Since when has MS ever used, "The Best"? They make and use Windows (Most definitely NOT the best)...that should tell you something. ;-P

Graphically, sure the 360 can do similar graphics to the PS3 quite well. I don't have an argument there. In fact in some cases the X360 graphics could be superior.

Where I do think the X360 will start to slow down is when future games start putting MORE on the screen. Remember its not just about graphical fidelity, its about getting that fidelity to numerous moving objects on the screen at the same time.

In my opinion, thats where the PS3 will really begin to shine. ...

This whole thing was nothing but a win-win situation for MS and here is why.

First of all, MS was able to get their console out the door sooner than the competition. No, it did not have HD disc capability, and that was ok for them as it simply gave them an opportunity to have a potentially larger profit margin should the console prove profitable.

It was also another way for MS to try and stick it to Sun Microsystems as they created the Java API to create the intereac...

Yeah, if I want a used game, I go eBay. Gamestop and EBGames are a bit pricey for, "Used" games.

I watched the video of Alan Wake, and I heard something of interest. The gentleman from Remedy makes numerous references to what they are doing with the multi-core processors. One thing that he mentions is that, "We're using the multiple cores here to prepare data for rendering for the GPU".

That sounds like the exact same technique that a lot of PS3 devs are using. I distinctly remember reading that, Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Guerrilla Games are doing this.

LJWooly, he didn't quite catch you on your grammer. While it does appear that starting a sentence with a conjunction is an American idiosyncrasy, that doesn't mean that its totally incorrect either.

Actually, I understand where this guy from GT is coming from. I mean, "Joe User" isn't necessarily going to be tweaking his console's settings. I know thats pretty general and a lot of us do tweak. But the common user doesn't really know or care that much. They just want to play the game and therefore "out of the box" is probably the best way to do the comparison for all consoles.

WE know how to get the best picture out our respective consoles. But most do n...

Actually, I think that the quote was misread.

“…we have to make sure we support it. Because next-gen consoles demand it. We have to be online. Obviously it’s gonna get more and more like what WoW are doing, with thousands of players on consoles, eventually. Which is pretty exciting. I can’t wait for that. It’ll be pretty fun.”

Its clear to me that he is talking about supporting online play, and that they have to support online play, because games are going to be ...

@elterrible: Actually, as a JEE 5 developer I can tell you that Java is VERY fast and scales well. If the Java BD-J package is as well written as the libs that I've used, then it should be a rather complete and very robust software package.

Try learning Java, download the JBoss app server, write a few apps for the web and for the desktop. You'll see that Java performs pretty well. What you are probably referring to are the very early years of Java. There were issues with perf...

@21
"geesh this is why comparison vids are useless. you will see what you want to see....and nothing more."

I see your point. But I think if the viewer uses the video in the correct context the comparison videos can be quite useful.

Personally, I just look for glaring differences between the two versions. In this case the only real thing that I would have noticed was the rather lengthy loading times. Other than that they seemed pretty much on p...

Analysts get paid to think about the console "war" because the console gaming business is a multi-BILLION dollar industry. The "winner" of a war like this stands to make a mind-boggling amount of money. Ergo, if a publicly traded company makes tons of money, you can expect stock prices to rise. If stock prices rise, the company and its stock holders can expect to make even more money.

Its simple really, its all about the money...oh and braggin rights! LOL!

From the article, "Now, just because the console is behind now, it doesn't mean it can't surpass the Xbox 360 and contrary to what I may believe may happen in the end, I think Sony has a shot at surpassing the Xbox 360 for at least a year during this console cycle. But in the end, the Playstation 3 will fall to the Xbox 360's side because of software."

I will disagree here. I disagree that, "...the Playstation 3 will fall to the Xbox 360's side because of softwar...

It appears as if the voice command system is going to work really well. Thats really cool...but that brings me to the question of, if you are playing against a friend(s) online how do you chat with them? Do you have to press a button to issue commands or something?

I am really interested in seeing how it plays out on the consoles. :-)

I must admit, I am a bit of a Supreme Commander freak. :-)

"Ain't gonna happen...those PS-brand franchises don't sell like the used to. Mark my words. There is no way the PS3's weak GPU is gonna be able to keep up with the rest of the industry"

Ok, thats pretty funny. The GPU in the PS3 is not "weak". I will be the first to admit that it may not be quite as powerful as the one in the 360, but its certainly not weak.

They are pretty equal in power and capabilities. They use very different architecture...

Well, the fact of the matter, is that this is a prediction...nothing more, nothing less. I can also predict some really wild stuff. Doesn't mean it will come true.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind seeing the PS3 be poised to take the lead at all. After four failed Xbox 360s, I'm giving up and selling the one I have. Its really a shame too, I really liked the games for it and I think that XBox Live is an great service that offers a really good value. I must admit that I do t...

I'm personally on my 4th 360 and I am also in the process of selling this unit. I loved my 360, but failure after failure is a problem. I've used the extended warranty from MS

These consoles are consumer grade electronics. I've taken good care of each 360 I've had and they've still failed. Its my opinion, that consumer grade electronics should be able to be left on 24/7 without heat issues. I leave my home theatre receiver on 24/7 for the past 10 years and have never had an ou...

The prices are also in dollars (or your local currency)

After what I experienced the other night, I don't think I will shell out for anymore XBL/XBLA games or content.

Please see the post made by Silv3r Bull3t.

Basically, if you buy online content and your 360 can't connect to the mothership you're out of luck.

I am still in the process of seeing if this is true on the PS3.

I have to agree here. I think that due to the money and the high stakes involved that game studios are having to put out a bit of deception.

At first I was like, "Wow! Haze was once multi now exclusive? YAY!". Now, I get the distinct impression that we'll see it on the 360 some months after the PS3.

What I heard was that, Haze was coming exclusively to the PS3 this winter. Well, that right there gave me the "timed" crap feeling. Especially sin...

Please list a credible source for your information. I've not seen anything that indicates that Uncharted uses the Unreal III engine or that they have stripped things out.

If this is true, please quote a credible source other than, "look at all the videos and screen shots, and look cloesly at the lack of any realtime lighting,or any lighting for that matter." Its pretty much impossible to determine if a a piece of hardware (no matter its lineage) is rendering anything i...
