Persona 3 FTW!
There are a lot of things with the hostess bars. Some hostesses has side missions tied to them. Also you can manage the hostess bar and change the layout/girls outfit. Some of the hostesses take a while to level up. It's more than just a 5-10 minute mini-game.
And what's even worse, they decided to cut it to release it on March, on the same day as FFXIII. I think Sega hates money.
I agree with this review (not the score). Teletext has become one of my favs now.
In hostess clubs, you pretty much talk with the hot hostesses to win their heart and make them go on a date with you. Also, you can run the hostess club and select the layout and whatnot. In Y3, you can select their outfits.
There are also side missions tied to these hostesses, and I'm guessing they'll be cut now. It also makes a lot of shops useless.

I hope Sega doesn't take more than a year to localize and then release it on the worst day possible with content cut out.
Likewise. Hostess clubs were one of the funniest and best things about the Yakuza games.

Okay, if there's something wrong with the PS3 version, it's the developer's fault. But if there's something wrong with the 360 version, it's the console's fault.

Most reviewers probably didn't like the boring story, awful dialogue, lifeless characters, slow & easy combat, etc.
Sega sucks. First they take more than a year to localize it, then they announce the worst possible date for release, and now they removed one of the best things in a Yakuza game. Sorry Sega, I won't support your crappy work at $60. I'll wait 'til it hits the bargain bin which will be very soon by the looks of it.

I just checked the Japanese demo, and it has the hostess club.
No Sega, why? :( I still have hope it'll be there. The Qore video of Yakuza 3 says you can date girls, and the only way to meet girls is through the hostess club (unless they changed it).
I think it'll still be there for the full game. The guy from the hostess club tells you "if you want to access the hostess club, you gotta get the full version."
Though it is weird that they removed the trophies from the hostess club (if true!)

Resistance 3 hasn't been announced yet, and WKC was awful.
The 360 line up does look pretty amazing - looks even better than PS3s. The only thing I'm looking forward to on the PS3 is Yakuza 3, and that's it. The rest I'm looking forward to on PS3 are multiplats.
Can't wait for Alan Wake and Splinter Cell. Just a few months away!!
I hear ya. They choose the worst date possible. I was planning on getting FFXIII and renting GOW3, but I decided to get Yakuza 3 instead. It's a game that'll be harder to track down later on.
