I remember their article suggesting you spend $1000 on a laptop (With a low grade GPU) instead of a PS3 for a Blu-ray player/game system.
I'm sure they just picked the cheapest versions of games on the app store to compare to the ones currently available on PSN.
EDIT: Don't get me wrong, it's too bad they aren't cheaper, but Cnet loves to blow things out of proportion with Sony products.

Tip #1: Don't establish your bias in the first sentence of a review.
