It will depend on if the x box can't ever get above 720p but that has already been disproved with forza and halo running at 1080p and 60 frames.
Even Cboat who sony fans love admits things will improve over time.
Its third party developers who are having problems running games at a higher resolution on xb1.
Reason 1 they've on'y got devs kits about 5 to 6 months ago and COD Ghosts and Battlefield were games designed for the PS3 AN...
I don't think many people get why the resolutions are lower on xb1 than the PS4, at this time!
The PS4 has unified memory the xb1 doesn't. Cod Ghosts and Battlefield 4 have been in development for a couple of years, their PS3 and X BOX 360 games.
Third party developers only got their hands on devs kits about five to six months ago. When they uploaded Cod and Battlefield 4 on the xb1 and PS4 platforms.

Gears requires lot of skill, its the reason lot of people hate it. There's a strong learning curve. You're not going to get lot of kills unless you learn the game and stick with it.
Its seems Epic games may announce their new game at a PS4 event. I'd be pissed if its Gear related and a PS4 exclusive.
I would have seriously reconsidered not getting an XB1, if it turns out gears is no longer on the Xb1

Sony UI is fairly basic too, but i will not deny their console does have the better spec's. But you don't buy a console for specs. You buy it for the exclusives and the online experience.
Clearly Microsoft online experience will be better with dedicated servers and more first party exclusives on launch day.
The only game that used Microsoft's cloud Azure servers on X bOX 360 was Gears of war 3 and judgement.
It was a great experience, and almost lag free. About 90& to 95% the majority you wouldn't notice any lag.
It looks very basic compared to the XB1 UI.
I watched the stream and i thought the game looked great, running in spectator mode, so naturally textures would be slightly downgraded.
I honestly don't care what resolution it set at. X box live is running great evidenced by the live stream.

Getting an XB1 but out of all the PS4 games i've seen. The order 1886 is really a game i would like to play. sad.
I don't think the media is downplaying, because it could be a launch issue whether than a hardware problem with the xb1. If games can't get 1080p in 2015 to 2016. Then Microsoft fucked up.
As long as games run well and online is fine. I can live with glitches and bugs with the OS
It only can get better. Epic games has yet to show a next gen game and likely not gears. Black tusk, still hasn't shown what their making. Quantum break a game that might surprise.
Halo, fable, Titanfall coming in early 2014. Microsoft has other studios working on games not yet announced. I think we are good on xb1 for least 2014
The only game i know that uses Microsoft dedicated servers on X box 360, is gears.
Online its smooth as butter virtually lag free. So this is the reason why i don't doubt the Microsoft cloud stuff.
Windows Azure is providing the dedicated servers.
Its only when the consoles are out will we know for sure, which one is better overall. We only go on like we do because we're waiting for those consoles.
I don't think Microsoft understood why Gears judgement failed and still doesn't.
I've played them all and fans did not like the direction Gears judgement took at all and turned against it.
It was never about gears running out of steam. Gears still has millions of fans who'll happily buy Gears 4, but you got to stick to what made it great, in the first place.

The problem was Judgement was just a poor game in comparison to Gears 3. They only had 4 maps for traditional online play, lack of characters (locust removed) dumbed down the game to attract more casual gamers, poor map design, so many issues.

XB1 has lot going for it. Dedicated servers, great games, upload studio, streaming, HDMI out, improved audio, unlimited cloud storage, Impressive UI with snap.

Sorry that's inaccurate. Halo is more graphically challenging than Cod, but its managing and running at 1080p and 60 frames. Therefore XB1 will hit that resolution on most games by the end of next year.
Third party developers its obvious haven't had the time to optimise for XB1 due to the hardware. Its not broken, it just takes time, to figure how best to work with Esram.
