Believe it or not, even the biggest of rush-jobs (CoD, im looking at you) can take around 2 years.
It's frankly, amazing, that they're pushing so much quality into their games in so little time.
Edit: and for the record, where did GT5 and FFXIII end up? In my PS3 for MANY, MANY hours is where.

The original 151 (yes, Mew counts) are some of my least favourite Pokémon.
IMO, Gen 3 > Gen 4 > Gen 5 > Gen 1 > Gen 2.
But overall, Gen 5 are the best games in the series.

FFIX was the bomb, I really enjoyed VII, but it's vastly overrated.
VIII, IX, VI and XIII are my favourites, in no specific order.
Of course working on a specific platform can increase the overall quality of a game, Im not denying that, i got 120+ hours out of FFXIII *without* the apparent cut content, and Im fine with that, but honestly, those who bitch and moan about it are usually those who haven't played it and the only basis for their argument is "SUX GIMPED 4 360" and it's gotten really tiresome, are we gamers or what? play the goddamn game people, enjoy it for what it is.

FFXIII was by no means a bad game, it was a GREAT game, but you're just butt-hurt that it went multi-platform, every time there's a rumour of a PS3 exclusive going to 360 the general opinion turns to "THIS GAEM WILL SUCK ANYWAY", I'm talking about Versus XIII specifically here.

It's stupid. It seems everyone has forgotten what a Beta is actually for, do you really believe that the majority of PS+ members will actually TEST the game and submit any bug reports or suggestions?
