From what i gathered is that Sony has been pushing to make the SSD so fast that you don't have to have the texures you don't se in the ram. So when you turn around the texures behind you gets loaded from the SSD into the ram and are ready to be used. And this is why in the UT5 demo you could have 8k textures. If the SSD would be slower you wouldnt be able to do that, you would have to lower the quality of the textures to be able to fit all textures around you in the ram.
