two issue i see with the X1 as a media box.
one, you need cable/satellite box to get the live tv stuff.
which makes the Xbox One name a bit of a misnomer, even without the power brick and kinect.
two, just about every app on the thing is behind the gold paywall.
as a games machine, it has some good games, i really like the look of Dead Rising 3, not great ones yet, but then it's only been out a couple of weeks, give it time.

well yeah, launch games never get the most out of the systems.
no criticism of the developers, they just don't have the experience with the hardware to get the most out of it.
look at titles towards the end of a consoles lifecycle and compare then to the launch games.
