narrative driven games are just a result of a maturing industry and technology. games were simple in the 90s, and so their narratives were generally shallow-to-nonexistent.
I'm not a fan of the trend at all. I just avoid narrative driven games most of the time. Though I'd be lying if I said I havent gotten some enjoyment out of The Wolf Among Us through GWG.
