If consoles where to ever go away then it would be the PC that keeps the hardcore gamer alive. I personally dont have a problem with that cause i spend 80% gaming on the PC already.
But saying that i would never want the consoles to go away, and replaced with the mobile market approach to so called 'games'
Cloud only gaming is so far away, maybe 20-30 years. There are people out there that still dont have the internet, let alone thinking of having a 50mbs connection. Im a very tech savvy guy and the best broadband i can get is 5mbs.
That would be the worst thing to happen in the video games industry.
@Kran It took 25 weeks for Nintendo to drop the price of the 3DS. After only selling less than 100k a week world wide.
first 25 weeks 3DS sold 3.8m. Next 20 weeks after the price drop the 3DS sells 10.2m.
Still dont no what version to get. PS3, Vita or PC.
I hope there is a Vita demo. There isnt much difference in the PS3 and PC, PS3 already runs at 1080p
The same way they are selling a £99 AppleTV. Apple isnt going to make the next AppleTV have even PS3 level specs. There not going after the hardcore market. More the Wii audience, but even more causal.
Eat them alive with what? Apple sold almost as many iOS devices in 3 months then the PS3 5 years install base. And Apple now has over 300m device out there. If Apple wanted to really get into the gaming market it will use there $97b they have in the bank.
Im a complete Apple fanboy, I have an iPhone 4s, iPad2 and iMac 27'
BUT the rumors of the iPad 3 specs will also be in the next AppleTV. Thats a quad core CPU.
But the games the AppleTV will be out putting will have nathing on the kind of graphics the PS4 has.
The next AppleTV will sell alot but not cause its a games console. More of a media hub with a games section.
I dont want to be playing iOS games on my TV. I want PS...
So the Vita in its first month sells 527k and the 3DS sells 746k.
How on earth are these numbers cause for concern.

If Sony as a whole was to ever go away i would hope they off shoot the Playstation business.
TBH i dont really care about anything else Sony does. Yes they make great products but there normally is someone else making something better.
