Here's a challenge; name 3 good exclusive non-port, third-party titles that cater to core gamers that will be out this year.
Pro tip; you can't.
We liked it when it was a SPINOFF. What don't you people get? Numbered FFs are supposed to stick to a basic formula, the spinoffs are for tests like this. There's a fighting game, strategy, TRPG, you name it,even ARPG. All great too. But deviate too far in the main series like 11/13/14 and now 15 and fans. Get. PISSED.
I'm willing to very, very reluctantly accept this DMC game as FF but it better REALLY kickass in every department to make up for the ridiculous game...
People are stupid though, they like jumping around with shitty cameras and floaty controls, inaccurate combat, and frustrating menus. Kingdom Hearts is cool but the battle system is straight trash, man.
If I wanna play God of Fantasy or Fantasy May Cry then it looks good.
But I don't.
Yeah, I hear that a lot. That is their plan, to bring in non-fans with ACTION LOLOLZ and just hope true fans buy too.
And it's working, damn it.
I have to disagree, even the combat did not make me care but everything else you said was spot on.
True but 12 was still good enough. All downhill now...
@snookies12: Don't pretend like I'm being defensive, I'm just stating facts. Zelda wouldn't be Zelda without puzzle filled temples and Call of Duty wouldn't be what it is if it suddenly became a TRPG. You can't just rip a game from its genre and expect positive results, unless it's a spinoff, usually.
Components of game design are not mutually exclusive, you cant ask if I think back to the story or the gameplay. They go hand in hand with the art, m...
Hopefully we get FFX-3 some day...
@hdshatter: Plus new mini-games, campaign, and other brand new types of features, with DS/3DS compatability. Plus if they were smart, release eShop versions of the older generations and make it completely backward compatible with them all, and have rule variations, and play with different geneation mechanics as you see fit via options.
A massive undertaking but it would sell well, and would make the rereleases of older generations sell too, even more than they already would! ...
I also want Pokemon Stadium 3, Pokemon Snap 2, Pokemon TCG 2 localization, and Pokemon TCG 3. Come on Nintendo, bring back the good sub-franchises instead of Mystery Garbage Ranger.
You make it black and white, but it is not. They can get with the times and still not be a FailBox-1.
FFXV is just DMC with numbers flying around when hits connect, and no, Final Fantasy was more than that lame argument of "story, characters, and world." Final Fantasy stood for excellent gameplay, and party-based, strategic combat.
Only the PS3 version comes with both, I mentioned Vita. Good try though.
I hope everyone buys FFX-2 as well, not just FFX for Vita and PS3. We need to so we can show Square-Enix that not only do we want them do do more remasters, but that there is still interest in turn-based RPGs so we don't just get more like FFXV in the future.
New Mega Man Battle Network, and...you know what, just give me a new entry to every Mega Man game, and make a few new ones. I can't get enough!
Give Bass his own game, too!
I want Budokai 4, PS4, online, smaller cast of unique, balanced characters.
NOW
Starfox, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Earthbound, F-Zero, and SMRPG 2 would make it the most successful system ever; just get every franchise on the thing and everyone will have to buy one, period.
Your problem is you're looking at it from the business angle Nintendo wants you to, the casual, family festival. Good games are not made for casuals. That's why Nintendo has been going downhill for a while.
E3 was their chance; price drops, new bundles, new IPs, but all we got was mediocrity.
Wanna see Crono.
Nintendo actually has mature titles (Fire Emblem) and even its more easy-going franchises (like Pokemon and Mario) have had some relatively dark-ish themes, something I'd like to see expanded upon.
