As long as I'm alive, I hope they do not stop selling the physical copies. I like the digital convenience but I want a sense "ownership" of my games. Ultimately, I won't need to worry about glitches.
Can we please get a PS4 version of this!
@ CrossingEden
Times like this is when I think one bubble is too much.
@ dmitrijs88
And that's exactly how you bring a good thing to an end.
I did take "almost" into consideration as well.
@Jimbobwahey
It has zero to do with the eSRAM the way you are explaining it. It has everything to do with the ROPs. ONE has 16 and PS4 has 32. Read the link I've included that will explain it clearly.
"The ROPs (render outputs/raster operations pipes) are responsible for final pixel output, and at the resolutions these consoles are targeting having 16 ROPs definitely puts the Xbox One as the odd man out in comparison to PC GPUs. Typically AMD’s...
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned the fact that it's running 5 screens with an APU and only 1! graphics card! I don't know how much is the APU and how much is Mantle... I can't wait to see this broken down with independant tests done. This is absolutely impressive tech no matter how you look at this.
@The_Infected
"Careful use of eSRAM like this for the various render stages mitigates some of the advantage that PS4 has with its faster unified GDDR5 memory."
This line is utter rubbish. Let's say both systems used GDDR5 - the problem still is the graphics card. PS4 has a very large advantage regardless of it's ram type.
If both of them work as advertised, my next card will be an ATi card. Frame pacing alone is worth it for me. Nvidia wants me to buy a monitor with hardware in it to match my graphics card. I'd rather it be handled in the video card and it's drivers.
I don't want to be the party pooper but I think has the ability to destroy physical medium. Meaning I'll never "own" a game again. I don't think I like where this is going. Will there even be a PS5? This could be the beginning of the end of what I know and love about gaming.
What you are asking for is in slide's 2 and 3. Slide 3 shows w/ and w/o mantle enabled on two CPUs.
@ Volkama
You are correct Mantle being made for AMD cards but with a little work they can be made for whoever wishes to use them.
Let's hope BF4's patch doesn't get delayed again.
Let's hope Dice can fix BF4 before BF5 is released...
It doesn't matter if they are using and older CPU/GPU combo or not. It's to show the gains made period.
AMD just released a G-sync alternative that doesn't require hardware at CES. IF and I do mean IF is as good with software only, that is a big win for the Red team.
@Nukeitall
In case with Mantle it doesn't matter because it is Opensource. ATi just laid the ground work. Hell if Nvidia wanted to use it, it could.
I've seen some pretty cool looking Steam machines here. Now the thing I don't get is what in the hell is the selling point?
- Devs don't get a standardized system to code for
- Consumers really aren't getting any deals on the computer hardware (pretty close to off the shelf prices(I'm not say there is NO savings))
- Will Steam have exclusives I can't purchase on my "standard" PC?
I have ma...
@ Crazyglues your list list of problems are 100% accurate. Where you talking about killing more than one person a clip - thats why I changed to the top of the line 12 gauge semi auto. I can get 3 sometimes 4 people with my 11 shots. *gotta be full choke tho*
Nope they still haven't fixed them. It's my most played game at this time and it hurts my heart.
This is where Apple shines in the mobile area. Devs know what they are working with from start to finish and how to make it work on all apple products.
Nvidia hardware is spread over many different configurations. Devs can't fully exploit the hardware or they can but just don't want to because of the units sold.
I would love for this tech to gain traction because this will push all the SoC makers.
I expected some type of performance gain but nothing remotely close to this.
I hope Devs jump on this but Nvidia's pockets are deep... TWIMTBP crew are pretty loyal.
Microsoft is 100% correct. 1080p has nothing at all to do with eSRAM. It has EVERYTHING to do with the video card they selected for the Xbox1.
