Diversity? I'm still not sure how I feel about Noctis and his gang of bros bro-ing around.
It's probably so they can gauge the demand for it. Why include it if no one wants it?
All great ideas. Find Tabata and tell him!
Perhaps like how they did with FF9? Purely for battles rather than any storyline-specific co op missions. Even an addition like that would make the game a lot more attractive than it already is.
Even if they simply had the FF9 style of co op, it would still be an excellent addition. I loved playing FF9 with a friend!
I think it will be an excellent addition post-release. Say, some co op missions spattered throughout the campaign, or just a completely separate DLC for co op play.
Even something like the FF9 partial co op in the battle system. Much yes.
Can we all please stop with this elitist attitude of what a "gamer" is? A gamer is someone who plays games. SIMPLE. You don't hear farmers be all like "Oh well Bob down the road only farms potatoes all year round. He only ever farms potatoes, and he's really fuckin good at it, but he's not a real Farmer."
Exactly this. Sure, the Wii was innovative, but it just didn't have the games to draw the 'core' crowds. With the Switch, this will change. With all the new technological innovations in gaming at the moment, this console may ride that wave into success.
You're right; both of those examples I would describe as being a hardcore gamer, or just a 'core' gamer. I think I could have highlighted the fact that the trailer showed a wide variety of different genres of games, telling us that Nintendo are definitely aiming for those who pour thousands of hours on a wide mix of games.
I'm an PS4 and Xbox fan, and I'm not laughing. I'm excited. And I think I speak for a lot of other console fans.
That's a good point. Like the article mentions, Nintendo are changing their style of marketing from younger audiences and families to older gamers. And dog walkers.
What you did there, I see it.
Oh man, that's an excellent point. I felt a little underwhelmed when I bought the PS4, considering most of the general stock of games appear on both consoles, and that feeling would have only increased if Nintendo had revealed just another box with some control pads.
This unique concept provides an incentive to purchase.
Somehow, I don't think Nintendo would have gone ahead with this reveal if they weren't near 100% sure that they could rectify the mistakes of their past, and secure a butt-load of 3rd party support. Obviously, I don't know for sure how it will pan out, but it looks promising at the moment.
Yeh that's part of it, but it seems that there's been a division between the type of game a hardcore gamer plays and what a casual gamer plays. I know it's dumb, but it's just the labels they've been stuck with.
I agree completely, but the word "gimmick" has negative connotations for a lot of people. Perhaps we should go all marketing-speak and say that every product has a Unique Selling Point? :D
You don't think it's less of a gimmick than the Wii or Wii U? I've been a console gamer for all my life, but only really Xbox and PS. I abandoned Nintendo after Gamecube, but now really feel they've addressed most if not all the criticism of their past two consoles. It's different, sure, but not gimmicky.
You know what? I agree.
Totally agree with your comments on a Link Between Worlds. They've come too far with Zelda to be tinkering with their winning formula and make the game too open world. Give me a space to explore, sure, but there needs to be some structure.
