Where was I when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out? I only played Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption (1), you must be from the future, Chris.
The thing for me was that I hated launch Diablo 3, but loved Reaper of Souls Era Diablo 3. I think they redeemed the game in a very good way, but still does not compare to Diablo 2.
I don't even care all that much about power, I just want a great console with tons of great games, including new IP's and sequels or reboots to old franchises they refuse to start making. That and some new titles to already established franchises. Make tons of them. That's all I want, Nintendo.

Not everyone lives with Mommy and has everything taken care of for them. Some people work for a living and have to get a place that costs 900 to 1000 bucks a month rent, with rooms that aren't all that big.

Just because YOU don't think any games are "worth the money", doesn't mean everybody else feels that way. I have spent soooo much money on PS games, and PS exclusives, and I can't begin to tell you how "worth my money" those games were, not to mention the replayability and satisfaction I have received on the PlayStation 4 console.

Uhhh... what? I don't know where you got that number, but please provide a link that shows that many new IP's minus indies (because indies don't count according to the XBox camp)
Your opinion doesn't determine GOTY either.... but you're the one who wrote a whole article about it.
I think Metacritic would be a better metric of determining GOTY than one person's opinion.
This is why XBox doesn't even try. They know you will be satisfied will just Gears/Hali/Forza, and will defend themselves no matter what. MS knows they don't even have to try to release variety, and give you the bare minimum while you guys congratulate them on their vast variety and quantity of games....
There's a lot more than JRPGs that are missing. That's the problem with XBox. If you don't like JRPG'S, then that's fine, but to say "it's not your thing", doesn't mean that it's not other people's "thing". Other people, even some XBox fans, I'm sure, would love to have some JRPG'S and/or some Japanese style games (not always JRPG's FYI).

It's not just because of "one very specific and niche genres of game", it's many different varieties of types of games that appeal to everyone, not just Halo/Gears/Forza (all very western games). Now I know that XBox has a few different games than that, but not many... that's the problem.

For a game of GeOW's style, I feel that 'familiar' would actually be a good thing. I wouldn't want a new dev to make a new Deus Ex, for example, and then completely change everything, when the formula and familiarity is what makes the games so great.
Adding some new stuff, a few new features, etc. is a good thing, but don't dramatically change it. That's how I feel. So I think it was smart was the devs did with this game in ...
