We already see the fruits of what you're talking about with EA and others like Respawn with exclusive partnerships.
EA, Activision, Ubisoft-most likely since they been one of the only outspoken about it) will bring most of the core gamers no matter what, not to mention a sh!tload of smaller studios etc that will see this as a way of not going out of business due to piracy.

Xbox 360 and xbox One has the option to use batteries and battery packs. Complaining about it is as about as stupid as complaining about being able to charge a cellphone with a wall Jack or with other USB devices

I've had two xbox 360 controllers where the battery pack would not hold its charge after a while. Swapped the battery pack without having to replace the controlle...

MSFT releasing the details last night leads me to believe they want to show the xb1 cloud designed hardware with their cloud service. Better to get the drama out of the way and surprise rather than surprise and have drama over all the online stuff.

It's obvious what some of them have already said and are doing. Ubisoft, EA etc etc.
Example: EA has said lets make a exclusive partnership with MSFT(not exclusive deals but a extended exclusive partnership) In a manner of speaking ;) LOL
Sony would be sealing their own doom if they allow MSFT to better protect developer software.
For all we know Sony's unwillingness to make a choice could be part of the reason MSFT has made historic exclusive partnerships with devs like Respawn and EA, not deals but partnerships. If Sony doesn't follow more and more will do what EA did.

They disagree because we got PS3 fans running around acting like they are experts quoting devs and forum goers that have no idea what they are talking about because PS4 and Xbox One hardware has not been explained in detail to no one. People are making general statements based on vague/general info and speculation based on pre XB1 reveal rumors.
