lol..no. These are video games. Its all about which one will be fun to play and will last you months. Modern Warfare 3 is the one. It has dozens of modes so you never get bored. It has an epic campaign, it has Spec Ops and survival. Modern Warfare 3 easily wins in replay-ability and fun. It also has split-screen online multiplayer so you can play with your brother/friend/girlfriend/wife .

MW3 IS NOT running the same engine as COD4.
The engine was modified with MW2 and modified again with MW3.

Call of Duty ELITE is a FREE SERVICE. There is no "Monthly subscription". There is however an OPTIONAL yearly subscription of $50.(Which saves people $10 on DLC since all DLC is included for free with Elite....

Activision could easily come up with new IPs. Call of Duty won't just "die". There will be signs(such as declining sales). So far so good. No signs of WoW or COD "dying".
You're right Activision does need new IPs.(badly)
But that article is exagerrating. They still have the Spider-Man games, Transformers, Spyro. They could even bring back Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk. On the Blizzard side of the company they also have Starcraft and Diablo which are huge IPs and will only get bigger in the coming years.(PC Gaming is growing every year and Blizz. has some of the most popular IPs)

PCs get new CPUs/GPUs every few months.
Will it be more affordable than a high-end PC of today? Of course. I'd say $500 would be the max for a next-gen console. And these consoles will last for 5-6 years without a need for upgrades.
P.S. A PC is not "next-gen". PCs aren't part of any generation. Generations are for consoles.

I doubt it. Microsoft launched a whole year earlier so they have much more time to prepare for a launch. Sony will launch a few months after Microsoft.
