PS3 was leading in worldwide sales at this time last year as well. But in the end Microsoft out-shipped Sony. Sales tracking sites show that the PS3 was the best selling console of 2011 to consumers.
On topic: Sure PS3 needs a price cut to stay competitive....in America. I'd say the 360 is in serious need of a price cut if it wants to outsell the PS3 this year.
Glad to see Valve is working with Sony on the PS4. It should be an amazing console!

Those 10k people work at Sonys TV divisions and stuff like that. There have been no mass lay offs at Playstation-related divisions since it is like the only profitable part of Sony. They only thing that happens is studios who keep delivering sub-par game, are getting closed down which would have happened anyway even if Sony had Apple's money.
BTW Uncharted 3 came out last November. There won't be a Haze 2 LMFAO. You really don't know anything about PS3 do you? yes...

They were #1 SHIPPED(sold to stores) console for 2011.
So far at this time this year, PS3 has a larger lead than it did back in 2011 in the same time period. The PS3 will definitely be the best selling console worldwide year AND most shipped as well.
PS3 sales are the closest they've ever been this month. Only a ~30k gap for the month.
Meanwhile, the PS3 is outselling the 360 on a weekly basis worldwide.

They don't need to buy more. The devs they have are enough and they make plenty of great games. What they need to do is make the Vita a success and get ready for the PS4 launch.
I will laugh at people who buy a $150 microphone(Kinect) just for this or Mass Effect 3.

Most publishers will tell their devs to make games for the biggest audience. Right now the biggest genre is FPS.
