I can't believe that people don't automatically add / download every game on PS Plus! Madness.
Sony get a lot of flack for not being original & innovative, but made cross buy, remote play & PlayStation Plus. Along with being the bravest large publisher, Sony are probably one of the most important companies for the health of the games industry right now.
No one cares about delays if the game is good.
Crunch time is the bane of the AAA games industry, it burns developers out & has the best talent leave the industry to do something else. This is a major reason for the growth of indie developers.
I have to question this: Is this access to dedicated servers or every game will have dedicated servers? There's a big difference between those 22 statements. Good need for everyone as PC / PS4 / WiiU games will have them too.
People are polarised on this: some people say it's balanced, some say it's awful. At least it doesn't cost anything to try it.
I'm not a fan of f2p, but definitely giving Planetside 2 a go!
I sense they didn't want to cannibalise sales of Assassin's Creed 4. It only being played by developers & not shown to the press / public means they probably knew it was unfinished a month ago.
Nowhere does it say Microsoft are offering free dedicated servers, it is part of the "tool box" (it still has to be paid for!). If a game has dedicated servers on Xbox One, it will on PC /PS4, no company is making 2 or more sets of netcode. I'm always amused by people who pushing MS cloud, Microsoft are the ones that popularised p2p with Live!
Reading that preview, it was like he hasn't played Dark Souls 2. It's definitely familiar, but combat is even more weighted & characters felt fragile.
How is the game monetised? Do you buy items to create levels?
If a game uses deferred rendering (That's Unreal Engine 4, Cryengine 3, Frostbite, Sony's first party engine to name a few!), you'll need 48 mb at least for 1080p frame buffer. Forza uses forward rendering that's why it's one of the few 1080p games on Xbox One.
In reply to people below, it's pretty obvious he works for Microsoft: his success rate is incredibly high. He would have been booted off Neogaf if his rumours were that inconsistent.
I honestly think the system was designed to run at 720/900p mainly in the first place. Not only the relatively small ESRAM, but it's ROP output & the use of a modified Bonaire GPU. This is why a scaler was build into the hardware to dynamically upscale / downscale resolution.
Technically, a frame buffer has to be at least 48MB (realistically that could go into 200MB) to be 1080p for most games. 32MB ESRAM limit means games will aim for 900/720p.
Was he on the payroll when he said Dead Rising 3 was exclusive, Titanfall was exclusive & he correctly knew the 360 specs?
In response to your reply: Call of Duty DLC comes to Xbox One a month early, so Call of Duty fans are buying it for that platform (& more likely to buy the system)
DLC comes out a month early on Xbox One. Its depressing timed dlc has such a big impact on sales.
Yet they had 1000 people working on the awful Resident Evil 6. There is something deeply wrong in Capcom.
