All I hear are complaints that you weren't able to get it early. Both reviews more or less line up with the general consensus that came after them. If you need to reaffirm your crying with the notion that Mafia 3 was a great game, so be it.

Ah yes, but the circumstances are a little different here. I'm sure you weren't in total darkness when playing video games all the time as a child. You are essentially cut off to the world around you when the headset is on. Also, i'm sure you weren't within inches of the tv screen every single time you played. Everyone can do what they like of course but I'm going with the proverb "better safe than sorry."

I can agree with this. My personal standard though pushes me to finish the game. I like to see the ending and end game to see how everything wraps up. After the ending to a certain sci-fi, space opera, third person shooter title and made by a developer that begins with the letter "B" is always a reminder to me to see the ending.

I really would love for that to be the case. But the trophy list being hidden until closer to launch day is an ongoing trait for many games nowadays. Sadly, that can't be used as a measuring stick. Here's hoping I'm wrong though.
