Losing billions and eating up all prior profits to do so is a major fail. Also, you speak as if its still at $600. In fact they had to drop the price repeatedly and redesign the console twice to achieve that. They also lost the most market share in all regions after DOMINATING completely in the previous generations.
So I'd say yes, brand has been failed somewhat.
