I did play a bit of leaked game on emulator and, it definitely felt very handholding during exploring.
I don't remember Superstar Saga being nearly as handholding or slow paced.
Dialogue also cringy and not funny when it needs to land one and the game gives you the option to fast forward the conversations and cutscenes barely 30 minutes into the game, so they knew its boring to sit through.

The game didn't recycle final Boss, you only get to fight Lucan once and it's the final boss fight you mentioned.

The second Digital Foundry dropped the video everyone comes and constantly tries to pat themselves on the back damage controlling that GG made huge waste of time and resources on the remaster regardless of the quality of the remaster.

Many developers did that for gameplay reasons, they can easily make the night-time as dark and as realistic as they can especially nowadays, but the gameplay and playability will suffer.
I remembered Polyphony Digital video teased night racing at Nurburgring 24h layout on GT Sport and it looks VERY dark, headlights are needed to navigate the track, or you can't see anything at all.
They never went through with that goal in the end.

High End PCs are like well in the thousands of dollars.
They're happy with their 1000W behemoth that takes half the room and probably spent few hundreds on huge ass cooling alone, but hell yes they destroy the $700 console, definitely not what you'd call "Efficient" all that money spent yet nothing generational in gains and fidelity let's be real for once, even on PC side they're also hitting the wall.

Imagine the wrong message this game would send to the industry if it wins GOTY. Imagine, an indsutry-wide tripling down on nostalgia baited remakes.
No one but Indies and a few studios took the risks anymore because they could just remake/big remastered old games and profit.
