In order to keep the input lag and to minimize the framerate drops and those are very important in a faster paced MP like Killzone SF.
MP is all about gameplay can't say that it can't do 1080p but I think you wouldn't care that much considering you would struggling to have a good round of MP if all you care is best graphics.

I hope it's now close to gold status,Driveclub is THE game that got me sold since its announcement one year ago.
