I agree, but that's the way those old side scroller games were intended to be-- an easy start most people could get past with an increasingly more challenging difficulty level as the game progressed.

I get it, but what about the guy who wants to buy one for himself and a couple of his nephews? I went through hell just to get three NES Classics. I had to pre-order at Best Buy, Game Stop and Target just to get one for my two nephews and one for myself. After that, I bought as many as I could find on a first-come-first-serve basis and, yes, I sold all the extras at a premium... SUCKERS! Like it or not, it's all about supply and demand, crybabies.
