What about wii u? What about the vita? Xbox one will defiantly be in top ten consoles in sales(not counting handhelds) and has sold a good amount, just not comparatively to playstation. Try taking off the fanboy glasses.

The essentially made what we think of online gaming. Sure dreamcast had online, but see how that did. Sony has never really made anything first, does that mean that they never innovated? Microsoft was the first to do modern online, matchmaking, achievements, party chat, cloud servers, dedicated servers, making online gaming something gamers actually use.
I wouldn't call it sinking titanic, more like a hole that needed to be patched up. Its sold enough to be considered a success going by how we view all other consoles.

Fanboys are going to fanboy. First xbox sold horrible compared to the ps2, should 360 not have existed then? Should the switch not exist because of the wii u bomb. They make money on each xbox one sold. For what xbox is to microsoft its just worth keeping around. They may not sell as much as ps4, but its sold a respectable amount that its doing fine. Xbox live and the xbox store make bank and are more than enough to make it worth it for xbox to be kept around.
The major problem is that microsoft doesn't have something to counter what japan is for sony. You look at pretty much all but a few first party games but literally all 2nd and 3rd party exclusives come from japan. Microsoft doesn't have that support. Xbox tried getting japanese support last gen but the japanese devs didn't want to make games for an non japanese console. What if you don't like jrpgs? Remote play is good, but no one cares about the vita to use it apart from the occasional fan who loves all the crappy jrpg's that come out for it. It still sold really bad.
There are about 24 million sold at february 2013, since then i doubt its changed much.
Sony revenue was down by 54% thanks to its movie division losing around 900 million dollars for them and sony mobile continuing to suck. Gains by playstation are bittersweet because while they are amazing for SIE, they are more than offsetted by the rest of the company. Not that the rest of the company really matters to gamers though.
I would love a morrowind remake if they get it right, but i don't want them to simplify it to get over casuals. I would prefer an elder scrolls 6, something new.
