Because if they kill it off (for whatever reason) people start crying, for example Scalebound. As shown by the comments even in this article, people are complaining of old cancelled games because they didnt get released.
Or they have shifted on lead time for announcements which we know has happened. Bethesda, Sony and MS have all made comments about no longer wanting to make huge lead time announcements.

I feel like people have zero concept of how often purchases like these are made everywhere else in life. Why get a new car if your car still works (Drives the same roads), why get a new phone if your phone still works (Makes the same call, uses the same apps)... People upgrade things all the time, why do so many people feel the need to bash on people who want to upgrade?

I never really understood twitch or let's play YouTube all that much, if you have the time to watch the game, you have the time to play it. I only go to twitch if there is a new game to see if I like what it looks like.
