The only thing i see as failing is if they just did the usual bog standard multiplayer, they probably saw that there is the threat of it getting stale and decided to innovate.
But yeah i suppose there is room for anything to fail.
I agree with calling them experiences. A lot of PS3 exclusives ive played felt so much more than just "games". You appreciate the work and love that went into them and can tell the people who made them weren't JUST making them for profit, which again makes them feel more than just "games".

I think now is the perfect time, get everyone used to it and set the foundations ready to carry it over to next gen, by that time people will already be familiar with it and it will already have been tweaked and had things added to it.
One company had probably the best received console reveal of all time, the other didn't.
One console had horrible restrictions and control hungry policies, the other didn't.
One console has the most talented 1st party developers in the world, the other doesn't.
One company has had to do constant 180's out of fear of low pre order numbers, the other hasn't.
One company has left a bad taste in many gamers mo...
I'll take console 1st party devs over any others, any day.

Yeah this is pretty much the bargain of the century. It would be worth it for The PS3 and TLOU alone, getting GTA5 as well is awesome value.
