Come on people. Just because GTHD looks photo realistic doesn't mean it will be the best racing sim. You have to look at the whole picture. The point isn't to make the prettiest racing game. The point is to make the best racing sim. Photo realistic graphics do not make a realistic racing sim. Realistic physics, damage, tuning, and customization do and they more than make up for the difference in graphics. And as mentioned above, the Forza 2 demo only features limited cosmetic damage.
The deforming tracks look awesome, but I cannot stand the way the bushes and trees form a perfect wall along the track. Is it just me or does the "wall of foliage" effect look ridiculous?
MS should keep the XBL interface a more streamlined experience, but Second Life wouldn't necessarily have to replace that interface. It could just be a separate, optional service for those who are interested in that sort of thing. They could treat it like any other game, not a required download. I don't see how it could hurt.
You can't really compare Enchanted Arms to Trusty Bell. It didn't do well becuase it was a generic and shallow game. The gameplay was solid enough and there were some neat aspects to it, but the game world was a little generic and the invisible random encounters every 6-8 steps made it difficult to enjoy. Trusty Bell is an original IP that looks to be in a league well beyond that. I think it has a shot at big sales here and in Japan.
It's got all the features that Home has and more. I'm sure Linden Labs would love the exposure and it would be an easy answer to Home for Microsoft. It shouldn't be too difficult to port from the PC to 360 and it has a small hard disk profile as all the content is streamed.
are going down!
I think you are confused. People are not clicking this link for Skate to hear about Lair.
I'm sorry, there is no way that either console, PS3 or Xbox360, could pull off everything your suggesting and still run anywhere near 60fps. Even on these "next-gen" consoles, it's still a give and take between graphics and performance.
I think most of us will gladly sacrifice changing weather effects and a setting sun for a solid 60 fps, advance physics, and lag free online racing.
And 20 cars per race? Are you kidding me? Is squeezing 20 cars onto a r...
Well, thats a race track for you. It's a real world race track, and a popular one at that. This game is about real cars on real race tracks. This isn't supposed to be some crazy, flashy Burnout or NFS. This is about the kind of tuning and racing that real gearheads do in real life. You tune your car and take it to the track to compete. In real racing, the cars and the drivers are where the excitement is at, not in racing through some flashy neon city or whatever it is you were looking for. ...
Actually, there are drivers in the cars in Forza. The steer and shift in realtime with the player.
Are you kidding me? The video looks beautiful. I don't see anything that looks "awful" in this vid.
Im my oppinion, Turn 10 has done an amazing job of finding the sweet spot between looks and performance, physics and graphics. Show me another racing sim that looks this good and includes advanced physics, a cosmetic and fuctional damage model, 4000 layers of customization, tuning, and runs at 60 FPS.
We shouldn't be comparing this to a GTHD tech demo an...
A great racing sim is so much more than pretty graphics. GTHD and GT5 may look amazing, but that doesn't garuantee a great racing experience. Sure this tech demo looks good, but how will it play? Nobody knows. Why don't we wait until we've played the finished game before we make bold statements.
In the meantime, Forza 2 seems to have found the sweet spot between looks and performance, physics and graphics. Plus it has a sweet damage model and customization, which goes a long wa...
now now kids...
Pretty pictures and video replays don't make a good racing game.
The reason they can make it look so good is that they don't have a realistic physics/damage engine running underneath all those pretty graphics.
I don't think that even the mighty Cell is capable of running these visuals on top of Forza's vehicle physics, damage, and customization.
don't forget to mention all the physics calculations going on as well. Forza 2 will set the bar in realistic driving physics and GTHD in realistic visuals.
the game looks fantastic, but the mountain in the background looks weird. It looks like a 2D photo and rotates unrealistically as the road curves.
Like I said previously, GTHD will look the best, but Forza 2 will drive the best.
GTHD = most realistic graphics
Forza 2 = most realistic physics
A tasteful, subtle, and truthful jab at the competition. I like it.
The crowds and the lighting look outstanding! It creates a great ambiance.
