Some people were saying this would happen way back when they announced Game Pass while other people were insisting that Game Pass was profitable and not hurting sales for years after it was obvious it wasn't working and were part of the group saying letting them consolidate the industry was a good idea.
Some people were saying the opposite of what the media was saying, not just repeating what the media was saying a week prior then patting themselves on the back like the...
No they are not, PSSR and FSR 4 are basically the same thing, PS5 Pro was always going to get FSR 4, but FSR 4 wasn't even released when PS5 Pro released so they needed an intermediary.
If you actually read the articles about Project Amethyst you'd know that AMD and PlayStation have been working together on this for years. PSSR is not being abandoned it is becoming FSR 4.
And even if it was abandoned which it's not, who cares, the console its...
How do you have a studio that has another studio actually making it's game that after 7 years hasn't even created one game and the game they were working on was apparently so far from completion that it was deemed better to cancel it than release it with perhaps a paired back vision...
The levels of incompetency at Microsoft are actually impressive.
Just imagine if they didn't have a $3t stranglehold on the PC industry how quickly they would f...
They also fired around 2500 people across Microsoft's gaming divisions and Zenimax shortly after buying it, and before they closed down 4 studios including Arkane and Tango.
I remember Satya boasting about how compassionate he was for splitting the list 50/50 across the two companies.
All of those games are either old Xbox games or games from publishers they bought that were already being made as multiplatform games before Microsoft bought them. Publishers and studios which are now being gutted because of Microsoft mismanagement.
PlayStation owners are saving these studios by actually buying games.
Steam OS is Linux, it's free and open source, Linux emulates Windows better that Windows natively runs software, its been this way for years, since before Steam OS even existed. Open GL and Vulkan have consistently provided better results for years.
A program built by a multi-trillion dollar cooperation can't beat a program given away for free made by a bunch of generally unpaid programmers working in their spare time on it.
What the eff ever, this site was big pushing for Microsoft to buy ABK. Oh boo hoo Microsoft might tarnish its reputation...
How about some real criticism of their business practices for a change? How about an article saying how wrong it was to let Microsoft buy ABK on the promise of Game Pass funds when we all already knew Game Pass was losing money and being subsidized by Microsoft's other businesses.
Exactly, even when better software comes along it doesn't matter because Microsoft has a strangle hold the whole computing industry. And they have ambitions of controlling gaming in the exact same way. The only thing stopping that from happening is PlayStation and Steam and unfortunately for everyone, those two combined don't have the money or influence Microsoft does.
When you support Microsoft that is the future you're paying into.
I mean, I agree with the sentiment , but why are you pushing it on Sony? Of the three they are the biggest supporter physical (that actually has a playable game on the disk/cart) and are the only ones likely to have a disk drive next gen. And it's Microsoft who has been hardest on pushing no ownership, heck that was the big issue with the Xbone, and they even had digital only consoles back on the 360.
"According to reports, Nintendo of America restructured its testing operations, leading to layoffs of about 120 contractors, part of a strategy for global integration.
Nintendo of America, publisher of iconic franchises like Mario and Zelda, is shifting some contractors to full-time roles for better development integration."
Contractors are not employees, and even if you want to count them as that, it's ...
Nintendo said they have no plans for layoffs, and you can't seriously claim that the scale of Sony's layoffs most of which involved Bungie which is self managed as even close to the same scale as what Microsoft has done since they purchased Zenimax. And that significantly less layoffs would have happened if those publishers had stayed independent. Keep in mind that much of these layoffs have been due to redundancies specifically related to these buyouts.
Remember when Microsoft went to court and told their mom that buying ABK wouldn't lead to mass layoffs in their gaming division? Well I guess they also said things like they wouldn't create another tier for Game Pass or raise prices...
Bloomberg claims this is the fourth major layoff in the last 18 months, but of course there were around 2500 other cuts across multiple layoff rounds including closing Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Studios, Tango Gameworks and Roundhouse...
You know, software is modular right? Having a 5 at the end of the name doesn't have anything to do with the capability or quality of the software.
By far the best looking and most technically impressive game on consoles this gen has been HFW, and not only does it look great and have the best 3D audio it has the ability to do things like swim under the water while also being able to fly into the sky though fully simulated volumetric clouds. And has a draw distance that...
"Plus, you have to keep in mind that MS is a far bigger and richer company compared to Nintendo or Sony which can easily reduce it´s profit margins just to make Xbox Next the most affordable and cost-effective console in the market."
Then why did they increase the price of the existing console recently, while both Nintendo and Sony didn't?
And they have been selling their consoles at a loss all generation by their own admission yet th...
Even if this was their plan it's extremely unlikely they are going to have the device market share to effect any kind of change in consumer habits. Epic game store has been around for how long and it still doesn't even hold a fraction of the market share, games/developers vs Steam. If Steam is available greater than 90% of users are going to use that marketplace. Why would anyone buy the console/Windows Store (likely more expensive) version of anything in a s...
It's a binary question. Is Xbox making a console that plays PC games yes or no.
I am almost certain they are just talking about their Play Anywhere which allows you to play games on PC, console and Stream. They aren't saying that the console is going to Play PC games, they are saying their games will be on PC and console.
And they are talking about making Windows the best place to game because as it stands right now, you can use Linux to emulate...
Saying, “working closely with the Windows team to make Windows the number one gaming platform.” is not the same as saying the console is going to play PC games.
If they are telling you they are making a console and all this other stuff, why not just say the console is going to support PC? Why play coy about it?
To me it seems like more of a reply to the fact that they have a Rog Ally that they are trying to sell but has terrible performance because of W...
