A studio has to want to join Sony off of good faith alone, because if there is only a price MS will simply outbid them. There is no countering what MS did so they may as well keep on doing what they have been doing. Remember it is MS that felt the need to spend $7.5B in hopes of closing the gap.
Sony won’t have any problems with pushing out great games. What they will have problems with is game pricing because MS is looking to get as many big name games under their subscription service as possible right now.
I wouldn't call it genius. They did it because it was available and they could afford to do it. The price they paid was more than what most companies could afford to gamble on. In fact, if this things blows up they will just absorb it because they can afford to.
Look MS had to make a move in order to close the market gap and the talent gap between themselves and Sony. This does not automatically mean that Sony has to respond because to be honest the money game is not one that they can win.
They should stick to their guns and continue to nourish and grow their crop of talented studios. They have proven to build greats, not buy them. Leave that up to MS to close the gap however they may see fit.
For those if you complaining answer this. Would it really have mattered if they did reveal earlier about SpiderMan and Horizon? Would that have stopped you from preordering the PS5? If anything you can now hold off on preordering and stick to the PS4 for the rest of the year so that I can get one.
I also think many are assuming that because these games which are going to be weak because they are coming to the PS4 as if Sony has been making shitty games of late.

Sony has in no way hurt themselves here. Despite the messiness of the preorders and the news on a few games being cross-gen, you will be hard pressed getting a hold of a PS5. It’s going to be very difficult for the remainder of 2020 for sure.
That is how this particular GameStop is doing it. Having it at noon on a weekday makes it even further unlikely for myself.
Local Gamestop for example has 16 available for pre-order and it’s first come first serve. Needless to say I will have to wait until they are readily available in stores this time around. My guess is all 16 people are camping out right now for the noon opening tomorrow.
A $50 price difference would render the discless version D.O.A. It has to be at least $100 between the 2 SKUs.
Never say never I agree, but the sample size that we have over 3 gens (20 years) odds are things will be much the same.
But hey 2020 has been bizarre so far who knows.
Look Sony could wait until Nov. 11th to announce the release date and it will still sell out. I’m not excusing the delay but let’s stop acting like their tardiness is a deal breaker when it comes to which console you’re going to choose.
The PS5 Digital is not the little brother to the PS5 Disc version.
I think MS is making a huge mistake with the Series S and it will not last longer than a year before they shelve it. They should have just stuck with the One X.
Now suddenly TF no longer matter. Yes the One X has 50% more TFs than the Series S but it means nothing. Isn’t this what Sony has been saying about the PS5 not being 12TF like the Series X?

Faster loading times is nice and all but not about to play that long of a game again. Loved it though when I sat through it the first time. Blood and Wine was even better than the main game.
Come to think about it shouldn’t the BC version receive the benefit of faster load times anyway?

I have a coworker that has 5 PS5 preorders. 2 Target, 2 Amazon, and 1 Best Buy. He already has been offered $900 for them. He said I could have one for retail but I told him if someone is dumb enough to pay you that much get money. I have patience.
