I had my launch console red ring, but that's it. Of course anytime a new chipset came out, I upgraded. My Jasper ran the best of them all, even better than my slim I have now.

To me GTA was maybe an 8.5. Red Dead Redemption was a MUCH better game. Hell, I even preferred LA Noire to GTA 4. GTA 5 does look sick though.

But the arrogance from the success of the PS2 reared its ugly head before the PS3 launch and many, including myself, were turned off by that. Remember Kutaragi saying people would get second jobs to buy one? I didn't need a second job to afford one, but I didn't want to support that mentality until they they got knocked down a peg.
