I dont think it will happen. Yes bayo, snake and joker are from m rated games, but the violence in all those games is pretty tame compared to doom. Japan is more touchy about violence as well.
Even if he was added, he would be watered down and fans would be pissed. Dont expect him to whip out a chainsaw or perform a glory kill final smash
Smash bros isnt just about adding characters that people recognize and demand. You have to realize that when melee came out, hardly anybody recognized marth, roy, ness, ice climbers or game and watch.
Plus arms is almost guaranteed to be interesting from a gameplay perspective. A high range fighter like dhalsim.

I dont think the western market prefers shooters. That may have been true in like 2009, but not anymore.

Too many remasters this gen. I would focus more resources on creating games that are fresh, even if theyre smaller budget.
every new gen is going to see a less noticeable increase in graphical quality than the last as it becomes more and more challenging to improve on what we have.

The mechanics are entirely different than the original so of course not everything is going to carry over but im sure that like re2 its going to follow a similar story and level layout.
It wouldnt make sense for them to use onscreen choices in this game, the controls allow for you to make those decisions dynamically on your own.
first person shooting in twin snakes plays a role. It's a more modern mechanic yes but the game was never designed with that in mind so it makes it way too easy
