Edit: I think someone is in denial.. You must really like this race and competition... Last time I checked when I play my Playstation I'm not competing with Xbox... When I play Xbox I'm not competing with Playstation and when I play path of exile or csgo or an mmo on pc I'm not competing with consoles. So my console gaming is most definitely not a competit...
Same for Sony. Multiplat form games are lost income for them. Oh well. Pc is not competition.... Pc gaming is a market that they would like to get into. Different from competition. Their games selling on pc does give them income. That's all.
Xbox and Sony make most of their money off of software sales... Those that buy Forza on pc give as much money to MS as those that buy on Xbox. Software makes the bug bucks not the hardware.

All PC need an operating system. What operating system is dominant? Windows. So they own the pc market right now with their operating systems. Whenever a pc is sold with Windows part of that money goes to Microsoft for the license.
