Sony will release the BC emulator for the PS3 at the same time they announce the termination of the PS2, I thought for some notes they would release it this December but no, they will not unveil the firmware until they decide to finish the PS2 production.

tons of people knew about the price drop, they hold the sales until the drop was official, and knowing the Japanese consumers they wanted the slim version, just check the dates (8/10 - 8/16)
