If you need to pay more money to get the 'feeling' that you are online, then like you said, that is your choice.

I have over 100 hours on Battlefield 3, I love online play. The online play is EXACTLY the same on both consoles, besides the cross chat thing. The only thing different with the ONLINE PLAY (thats playing a game online) is that you paid over $300 extra to play online with the 360 over the years.
