There are plenty of core gamers like myself that are anxiously awaiting the next wave consoles. I have absolutely no interest in the casual peripherals that are hitting the market now. Believe me, new consoles are coming very soon.

We'll see what happens. They may do nothing at all or they may make several smaller acquisitions.
With Nintendo releasing the 3DS in March 2011 and very possibly a Wii 2 in fall 2011, along with Sony launching a PSP 2 sometime in 2011, I think MS will launch its new console in fall 2011. We'll know for sure E3 2011.
