The graphics are improved big time.
The viewable graphics mostly made a jump in smoother animation and a cleaner look.
The biggest improvement in graphics however is that the entire neighbourhood is now realtime, no more transitions and no more loads between houses, and no more sims that dissapear when they go to work or leave your house.

I bought a 1500 euro pc last month, i could have bought 4 ps3's instead.
But i bought the pc, why ? better value thats why.
Not only for the games (dawn of war 2, crysis warhead, diablo 3, starcraft 2, sims 3 etch) but also for rendering, sprite drawing, vector drawing, watching movies in 1080 trough tv out connected to my plasma etch etch.
When i look at the ps3, i just dont feel any reason why i would spend 400 on it.

At least MS planned forward correctly, they build hardware that could be produced cheaper in the long run by producing the hardware on smaller chips.
Performance/price wise the 360 is the biggest bang for your buck.
MS knew they would be able to drop the price even before they finished the 360, its called marketing tactics.

Right, its been out for 3 years, and no new console has been announced yet, so it wil go for another two.
No console needs to stay more then 5 years in his prime.
Hirai is basically just referring to the 10 years plan for the ps3, i personally however prefer a console to prime for 5 years, and spawning 2 sequels to its ip's, instead of having one God of war every three years and one metal gear every three years.
If they call that their longevity plan, suit...
I thank for the existence of sequels, they allow me to play Star ocean 4, resident evil 5, street fighter 4, forza 3, mass effect 2, and hopefully finally a sequel to battle toads and killer instinct!!
