With numbers like this, a price cut in 2009 is out of the window, sony shareholders would start dumping their stocks if sony announced a pricedrop while they are still in deep water.
They reserved 2 billion for repairs, and that was added to last fiscal year, and they still managed to make profit back then.
30 billion yen is more then 1 billion pounds.

As its just one of their devisions which made such a big loss.

thats about 5 % off all external employee's they hired.
External employee cost twice as much, and can easily be fired.
So if you ask me no one with a perm contract will be fired, as those cost less money then externals.
