They are not similar to cores, the ps3 uses a spu/spe architecture, it has one central processing unit, the rest are support units, a core has no support units, it does all the work on its own.

At least the 360 got some decent third party support before e3, in the form of Star ocean, ninja blade and race pro.
Around e3 splinter cell is also coming out, and all the AAA games are obviously moved to the last quarter, as do 90 % of AAA games.

MS got lionhead, who is working on a new ip, and on a new game in an existing franchise.
Then theres Rare, who are working on at least 3 new games, from which 2 are coming out this year.
Then there is turn10 who is working on forza 3.
And there is Peter jacksons studio who is working on Halo chronicles.
And least but not least, the new Halo studio is working on Halo 4.
And the third party exclusive support for the 360 is enormous.
