Without any argument, this article is not credible. Gamepass has less games compared to PS Now and day one exclusive can't happen if Microsoft don't release them. Deathloop could be on PS now before being on Gamepass too. That and Cyberpunk 2077 still a Xbox store exclusive too. For all we know, they will be at the same level of quality: Witcher 3 being vastly better than Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077 should be vastly better than Starfield too.

Wouldn't it be more a threat to Series X sales since Microsoft haven't released a next gen game yet? Even the author want to buy a Series S and not a X. The Ps5 the author won't buy will be sold to another user or a reseller anyway. Microsoft just lost a Series X sale when someone buy a Series S.
Sony will probably react by being a Bethesda themselves and release AAA games like in the PS4 generation. Microsoft hyped too much Cloud power with Titanfall 1 exclusivity and generation wide Crackdown 3 hype. Now they are buying a publisher that released all their good games already and are pumping average sequels most of the time now ( and skyrim rerelease). Microsoft literraly bought 7.5 billion$ hype. To prove my point, I doubt Microsoft bought Bethesda to own Fallout76.
We all know all these games are coming to PC. Xbox Series was obsolete the moment Halo was not a launch title. PC is where Microsoft head is at. Xbox even run Windows10 under the hood, but has less Tflops than a 3000 series cards. No exclusive, no Halo, less powerfull in term of Tflops, Bethesda games were the best on PC before and are still the best on PC now.

Animal crossing didn't need good graphics to sell well. Doom Eternal ( released the same day ) needed 4k graphics to sell. Why would Nintendo release a console they won't use half the power so that Bethesda ( now Microsoft ) sell more game on it?? Even pokemon was a 3ds port on switch, again why would a 4k console be relevant to Nintendo?
By the time Halo Infinte is released, PS5 will have more exclusives than they had a launch ( where Microsoft had none ) and could compete with Metroid Prime 4 or Breath of the Wilds 2 as big AAA Switch exclusives ( or some other surprise exclusive game that Nintendo is known for ). Also, Nvidia will have supplied more GTX 3000 cards to PC players so Halo Infinite will play best on PC day one and forever. Good games are more important than known character. Perfect dark zero and Nuts and bolts are good exemple.
I hope it get better too. I unsubscribed from gamepass PC with the low quality of games coming and the price hike, it was an easy choice. I will probably resubscribe in 2022 when Series X games are released. Like EasilyTheBest said, for 10$ per month the value is not there.
Even Nintendo don't do that. WiiU had the screen controller and Switch is unique in the market. Only one company is not innovating and they want us to give them money each month.
GOG is the best gaming platform that exist. I have 1.4tb of legally owned games installation files on a usb drive and when I want to play a game, I only need to install it. If the internet fail one day I will have a big collection of classic pc games ready to play forever.
