Its become more of an issue though with a lot of games. Many reviewers felt disconnected from Watch Dogs 2 for the same reason. "Pulling out a gun and mass murdering everyone" doesnt fit into the character or narrative of the story.
I can ignore it because I've played video games my whole life. But does it make sense that a PG-13, rompy, nice guy character like Nate is also a serial killer?

Gamers, and people in general these days, are very "wah, wah, I don't want politics and social issues in my games" even though books, TV, movies and every other form of compelling piece of entertainment does it.

There are definitely people who care. I've seen tons of posts on Facebook of dudes who won't play a game simply because the lead character is female.
For them, female lead = SJW/Femenist agenda.
