The DS has the numbers to back it up. 7 of the top 50 all time in sales. PS2 only has 5. Just look at some of DS's game sales: Nintendogs-22.25 million, New Super Mario-18.76 million, Mariokart-14.88 million, Brainage 1 17.5 million, Pokeman Diamond/Pearl 16.89 million. That's not to say that I think these are all good games, but sales are all we are talking about. As far as the Gran-Turismo numbers, Mario and GTA series destroy GT in sales numbers. Anyway, anyone interested in playing a free...

Darkride, you're absolutely right, but don't try to tell that to half of these fanboys. I tried to reference VGchartz during one discussion and was treated with arrogance and contempt, as if these idiots that dismiss sites like VGchartz know more than business and sales professionals like Forbes and The New York Times. It's fairly comical trying to have an intelligent discussion about facts when a majority of the people who post on here let their opinions take precedence. It's funny, the disc...

I have a pretty good feeling that the Dead Space crowd and the LBP crowd will be different (for the most part anyway). Not everyone can handle games that scare the crap out of them. Personally, I think this game looks way better than both LBP and R2. The game I'm glad it's backed itself up from by an extra week is Fallout3.

Shadowrun was one of the best games I have played online since the 360 released. Unfortunately, $60 is quite a bit for an online-only game with few game modes and little to no support. If it came out for say $40 of less, maybe it would have sold better. Still, it had one great thing going for it, and that is that it was just flat-out fun to play. It's a shame that so few people got to experience such a great game.

Not every 360 site is biased, teamxbox gave it a 6.5. They usually tell it like it is as far as game reveiws are concerned.

Yeah, I guess I should go with numbers someone made up to support their comment rather than go with a non-biased sales tracking site. They must be getting paid off for what I'm not sure.

5 million, wishfull thinking! It has only sold 2.66 million, check vgchartz.

Just to set the record straight, the PS3 has only sold 5.4 million consoles in America to date. The 360 has sold 11.99 million in America, that's not even close. The PS3 has been doing much better recently in sales than the 360, but they have a long way to go to catch up. As far as LBP is concerned, I think it is going to end up like ICO for PS2. It will be highly rated and critically acclaimed, but it will have disappointing sales overall. Let's face it, the big guns like COD series, MGS4, G...

This year is going to be like a middle round in a 12 round heavy weight slugfest. Both the PS3 and the 360 have some great games coming. I lean a little toward the 360 because I'm really excited about Dead Space and Left 4 Dead, aside from the obvious huge titles. I think a chink in the armor of the Wii is slowly going to be exposed. It has done incredible thus far, but after a pathetic showing at E3 and very little in the way of good games coming, I can't imagine how it can continue it's dom...

I agree, this games looks phenomenal. As for all the comments about how it doesn't look much different than the first, get your eyes checked, and so what? The first Gears is still one of the best looking games on the market, so it shouldn't need much improvement. That said, the shading and backgrounds are noticeably improved. When it's all said and done, Gears2 will easily be one of the best-selling, highest rated games of this generation. I'm glad the PS fanboys are so jealous of this game t...

This game looks fantastic! I like how they are setting up the story with the web comics on their site and XBOX live. I agree with the previous post about RE4. It doesn't have to be scary as much as unnerving and providing those "holy s**t!!" moments. That said, this game does like damn scary. I hope it turns out as good as it looks.

Is this article meant to be a warning about the next big disappointment she's associated with? Thanks, I'll stay clear of this one. Assassin's Creed looked like it had everything going for it, and then it turned out to be garbage. I thought that game had the potential to be the second coming of Prince of Persia. It's pretty sad when your game makes the top ten list for biggest disappointments of this generation of video games.

From all the responses, I don't think anyone even read the article. That or they aren't comprehending the point. The author didn't necessarily say that the PS3 was going to remain 3rd in sales or be unsuccessful at the end of it's cycle. He was trying to point out Sony's dominant position at the end of the last gen, and where they stand this gen. It's completely accurate to say that they are losing an incredible amount of market share. That doesn't mean that the PS3 will not still be consider...

I guess some players would rather have quantity over quality, and that's fine. I prefer quality myself. Smaller games on the console are far more tactical and allow for better co-op. Add to that in games like Gears, you don't respawn which increases the tension. Even great FPS's like COD4 prove the point. Most people I know can't stand ground-war. They prefer the 12 total or less games because the big games turn into a clusterf**k. I don't care if PS3 comes out with 1000 vs 1000, numbers alon...

Gears was 5.29 million in sales on the 360 alone. Again, it was a new IP which makes it a little tougher to compare to an established franchise. That said MGS3 only sold 3.99 million on a system that has sold over 120 million units. It almost matched the original MGS which sold 5.59 million, and the original MGS was a masterpiece that set the tone for the current one and the other sequels. To say MGS4 is "owning" Gears is just plain idiotic. Also, MGS4 came out at an odd time of the...

It's hard to compare sales of MGS4 with the first Gears, since Gears was a new IP and MGS4 comes from a highly established series. It would be alot more credible to make the comparison to the next Gears. Besides, if you're talking just overall sales, Halo3 has over 8 million, Gears over 7.5 million. As far as ratings, the're both within 0.5 or less on almost all game sites. MGS4 is a fantastic game, but it does'nt and won't "own" the big guns on the 360. Besides it's one of the only...

I agree, if her son is only 16 now, that means she let him play Gears at 14. A fairly adult game for a young kid, great parenting idiot!

It's like comparing apples to oranges when you talk about pc and console gaming. I realize that Halo was released on pc, but it was designed mostly for the console. PC games are designed to play much faster with the mouse and keyboard in mind. Halo was more of a port to pc. Lets consider the amount of money pc gamers have to spend on their systems to even play the newest fps's. A decent new video card cost more then some systems, and that's if you have enough cooling to not fry your board. Yo...

Yes juuken, your'e absolutely right. MGS4 would have gotten slaughtered. The biggest games nowadays have been those that have at least a decent campaign and a great online component. MGS4 has a great campaign (although the story is horrific), but a fairly lame online. I am in now way saying MGS4 isn't deserving of all the praise, but watch the numbers when Gears drops. I thought the 1st MGS on playstation was incredible. I'll admit that the story in MGS2 pretty much torched my interest in wha...

I don't see how Chrono Cross and MGS2 made that list. The story in MGS2 was so bad that it did suck some life out of the series, but the gameplay was still top notch. I wholeheartedly agree with DMC2 being on the list. I was such a fan of the first that it felt like a shot to the gut when I realized how bad the sequel was. FFX-2 was also one of the worst sequels of all-time. I don't feel like sitting through all the J-pop sequences to try to find a story in there. COD3 should be on there also...
