Yep, the same design and still to this point, no one can even come close to making an FPS to even compete with its multiplayer. Homefront, BF2, Killzone, MAG, so-on and so-on, fail, fail, and more fail.
A real competitor needs to step up before we can crucify COD. Belive me, I would love to see someone beat it down, but it just hasn't happened yet.
Next up to the plate, Gears3, BF3, and Brink.
No jaggies? There are a comical amount of jaggies strewn about the environments, especially in the campaign. The dialogue is unbelievably redundant and repetitive, and the lack of controller configurations is disappointing. As I said, I really wanted to like this game. I was hoping for something to come out and give Black Ops a run for it's money. Unfortunately this game feels graphically outdated, and although does some things well, not enough to justify a $60 price tag. If you want to e...
I wanted to like Homefront soo bad, but I just can't. The graphics are outdated, not even matching the 4 year old COD4.
The campaign is way too short being easily beatable in one sitting. The voice acting and dialogue were just plain awful. It's sad since the story could have been quite epic.
Online multiplayer has some good aspects, with a much better spawning system than COD games. Unfortunately, the guns don't sound and react that well, a...
To eat Black Ops for breakfast isn't saying much. Black Ops kinda sucks and alot of COD fans have already gone back to MW or MW2. Treyarch is improving, but still can't make a competent COD game. The guns continue to feel like crap overall, and you can forget about decent sniping. Add to that some horrible maps and you end up with another relatively forgettable COD game from Treyarch. At least it's an improvement from the unbelieve-a-bad world at war.
Sorry, but GT5 is going to get buried by Halo. You have to keep in mind the 100million+ install base that PS2 had which gave past GT's great sales numbers. The current PS3 base is a fraction of that, and won't even come close to helping GT beat Halo. As far as Call of Duty, the next one on deck is Treyarch, do I need to say anything else? World at War sucked. The only good COD's are made by Infinity Ward. Treyarch would find a way to screw it up if IW made the game for them, and all they had ...
The point of the article isn't what game will win game of the year, or be considered the best or most innovative. It's about what will be the biggest. Halo, like it or not, is going to bury everything else coming out in 2010. With what little we still know about the game, my focus is on games like Bioshock2, Mass Effect, and GOW3. That said, none of these will touch Halo in sales. It would probably take all three to even match Halo in sales. As far as being fresh and original, that arguement ...
I've seen this happen over 20 times. On the 360, you can hardly get through an hour or so of free-for-all matches without having it happen. It's gotten so frustrating and pathetic, that I'm not sure if I even want to play it anymore. They should seriously consider scrapping tactical insertion, it's a ridiculous piece of equipment anyway.
These comments crack me up, like "There are much better shooters than COD series". Really? Start naming them. COD4 was much better than any other FPS on any console when released. MW2 is going to trounce everything currently available, (yes that means you KZ2 and Halo). It will be interesting to see Bad Company 2 next year, but to be honest, the first one was fairly mediocre.
Then, you have the old, "It's just Modern Warfare with some improvements". What par...
Who cares if MW2 beats Uncharted 2 in graphics, it going to be a far better game either way. MW2 will sell more in a month than Uncharted will sell in 2 years. It will be the most actively played game for consoles online for months to come. There's no real comparison here, MW2 is the juggernaut of this year's games. Varsity just showed up, time for JV to take a seat.
I really enjoyed the first Dead Space on the 360, and I lok forward to any future installments like that. I will admit though, I have absolutely no interest in any on-the-rails shooter. Those games just flat out don't appeal to the masses. The only time they ever see play is at an arcade like House of the Dead series. Why they choose to blame Wii players for there lack of success is a joke. Port it to the PS3 and the 360, and the sales will flop there too. What a shame that all that time and ...
I think it's kind of funny that IW won't budge. It cracks me up listening to all these PC cry-babies who won't be able to mod and cheat now (which is about half of the whiners, the other half are might actually care about the clan and customization part of it.) It's amusing that you'll put forth the energy to even start an online petition over something so trivial. Us console gamers always get to hear about how great your games are in the first place, so why do you care about a port? Let's fa...
I love how Sony fans criticize Halo, which has a whopping 4 FPS's plus one RTS, and act like it's anywhere near as overdone as other existing series. The undisputed best game and killer app on the PS3 is MGS4. Although it is a phenomenal game, according to your logic, this game must be almost as played out as Mega-Man. How many damn MG games are there out there? Don't get me wrong, this game absolutely deserves to exist and so do future installments, same as the Halo series. As far as your or...
Fable 2 had an unbelievably crappy ending, and Crackdown was so-so. The games that are missing are: Gears 1 (which is the reason I bought a 360), Mass Effect (which is far better than Fable 2 could even hope to be), and lastly, Orange Box (which was easily the most bang for your buck we've seen in a while).
You said you could "build" a "decent" gaming rig for $1000. Two key problems with that statement. First off, not everyone knows how to build PC's or have friends that do. They would either have to buy a good one or pay the labor to have a place build one to spec. Secondly, a "decent" gaming rig is not going to get the job done. To play some of the more visually taxing games, you need a very strong set-up to play at high res and to be good enough to handle the nex...
I don't think PC gaming is dying, (look at all the people just playing WOW), but it is more of a niche than mainstream. It takes a far greater commitment than just hooking up a console. Beside the fact that I've never gotten a virus on a console. I think there is plenty of room for all types of gaming. Cutting edge--PC, mainstream--console, quick and portable--handhelds and phone games.
You only mention "upgrades" in your argument. I personally own a laptop. For me to realistically get into the PC scene, it would cost me an entry fee of at least $2000 (aside from getting one built cheap if you or someone you know can do so). That $2000 is more than my 360, PSP, DS, PS2, and laptop combined! If you were say just a fan of Sony, even at their opening prices, you could have gotten the original PS, the PS2, and the PS3 for cheaper than a PC and that covers 3 console gen...
Gaming on a PC is just far too expensive for the average gamer that wants to play the higher-end visual games like Crysis. When your talking $2,000+ investments that don't always keep you up-to-date enough to last as long as a console's typical span, it just isn't very realistic. I realise that some people can build PC's on their own for less, but not everyone can. Having to drop another $400+ just to upgrade your graphics card is more expensive than a whole console.
Where are these so-called "facts" that 360 owners tend to just run out and buy a game day one and not over the long-haul? MGS4 sold 1.3 million units on day 1, and currently has sold 4.26. Comparably, that same year Gears2 sold 2.1 million day one, and currently has sold 5.26 million. How are those two games not comparable? Both were considered the "big-gun" for their respective systems that year. It's funny that if this were a big 360 game, all the PS fans would call 300,...
First off, what's wrong with a 9.3 score? Once you hit 9.0 or better, that typically means that the reviewer feels it's worth buying. I don't see why people in here feel that only their opinion matters and anyone who disagrees is an idiot. Secondly, how Modern Warfare 2 got dragged into this I'd love to know. It will bring some new tricks to the table such as leveling up your perks, and controlling various things such as the AC130 and your Predator strikes in multiplayer. It may not be revolu...
Guitar Hero actually had competition in Rock Band. COD may kill itself, but not till someone steps up to actually compete with it which hasn't happened so far. Besides, music games are far more of a niche than FPS's.
