You do realize that the same can be said with the ps3. It already had more price cuts than the 360 and each time gave the ps3 a good boost in sales. The difference is that the ps3 did it because they're desperate. The 360 on the hand did it because production was getting cheaper.
The 360 is hot right and will continue to grow its lead unless sony does something drastic like a price cut. People are being silly and saying that the 360 won't be around at that time. Well you have to consider that the 360 is a much much bigger success than the original Xbox so I highly doubt it will see an early grave.
MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2, SOCOM, Motorstorm 2, and Dark Knight didn't even create a dent in the over all lead and now you think 2009 will??? LMAO! Give up already man. The 4 year debate is over. The 360 beat the ps3.

Well the best game of 2008 in GTA4 runs 720p in the 360 and a laughable 620p for the ps3. :)

The ps2 and psp are a great success. The ps3 is a financial mess. Can you imagine how much money Sony would be making if it wasn't for the big hole that the ps3 created?

Face it. Quality games sell well and that is why Halo 3 keeps on selling. It's been out for over a year and it's even outselling Resistance 2 in some parts of the world. You can't ignore the fact that great games sell well over time.
