just...wow.
i remember when gaming used to be fun. now i have to be Superman in order to make sure that the version of the game i'm having has the exact same amount of pixels as the competing console's version or else i'm just not going to enjoy the game!
pathetic, Eurogamer. really pathetic.
seriously.
end of story.
raising video game prices is NOT the way to expand the market.
as much as i personally dislike the Wii, it's priced at the sweet spot ($250), and games are $50, another sweet spot (but still a hurdle for a lot of non-gamers).
$60 is a struggle for even us, the most hardcore of gamers.
raising the prices of games further will just drive away those people that enjoy a good game or two, but haven't quite converted to full on game...
the games that will burn a hole in my wallet in the next 6-12 months are:
1) Uncharted 2
2) Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT
3) God of War 3
4) White Knight Chronicles
5) Heavy Rain
6) Final Fantasy Vs XIII
7) Gran Turismo 5
8) The Last Guardian
9) Demon Souls
10) Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
12) Borderlands
"Is EA's Making more Profit on the Playstation 3 Bad for Sony?"
for the most part, the PS3 is doing well in all three major territories, so it's not surprising if the platform makes more money from a company on a worldwide stage.
in particular, the EU really seems to love the PS3, and in Japan, it's doing rather well.
the US is it's weakest territory, but even here, the PS3 is still selling, which is all that matters to Sony and publishers in the end.
the 360 is doing well in two of the major gaming territories; the ...
i've yet to see any indication that the game isn't going to release in 2009.
anyway, on topic, i guess i just don't have anything to contribute. either Sony will drop the PS3's price this year, or they won't.
all the time people have spent complaining about the price of the PS3, they could have been saving up money to buy one.
at it's current price, it's a steal, and how well Sony does in the "console war" is of no real concern to the average g...
that was a whole bag of not contributing anything to this story.
this review is about Fat Princess, not MGS4.
i think i saw a few clues running around, you should probably get one.
didn't like CoD4. i played it, i thought it was ok, but i just don't get the near fawning praise of the game. i love what Infinity Ward did with the MP, but i'm not a big MP player, so that aspect wasn't what appealed to me. the 6 hour single player campaign didn't help either.
i didn't really see much special about CoD4, but that's just me and my opinion.
i prefer the fantasy settings of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2, and the gameplay they offer to CoD4's offering. <...
the PSN is ahead of the pack.
not discounting XBLA, but now that Braid and Castle Crashers are PS3 bound, i have to say that the PSN is the best service for downloadable titles:
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (not bad for fighting game fans, though not my cup of tea)
Burnout Paradise
Pixel Junk Monsters
Pixel Junk Eden
High Velocity Bowling (it's amazing that this game is actually GOOD)
Super Stardust HD
Everyday Shooter

especially when games like God of War 3, and Dante's Inferno have shown actually GAMEPLAY videos, and even had demos in the 5 years that it's taken Digi Guys to develop this game.
let's see:
1) Unknown Developer? Check.
2) First ever game project? Check.
3) Highly ambitious design? Check.
4) Overly detailed and impressive screenshots? Check.
5) 5+ year development with STILL no release window in sight? Check.
yup, sounds like a wi...
all i care about is how good Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 are. sales are unimportant to me as a gamer.
the fact that both games are Playstation 3 exclusive, and releasing at least 6 months apart also renders the question unnecessary.
did i forget to mention that one is releasing during the holiday season (or at least the start of the Holiday season), where people are more than likely to buy it, and the other is releasing in the first quarter of 2010?
i'l...
it's as simple as that.
people wanted a cheaper PS3 back then (and i'm pretty positive they wanted it so they could play all the cool PS3 game like Uncharted, MGS4, LBP, Ratchet and Clank Future, etc), so Sony made the console $200 cheaper, but removed BC, and people complained (i guess they wanted a PS3 so they could play PS2 games?).
in either case, once Sony finally releases PS2 emulation on the PS3, people will have no excuse not to buy a PS3.
it's a...
there are only so many games i can afford a year, and i already bought
Killzone 2*
inFAMOUS*
Valkyria Chronicles* (couldn't get it last year, and then snagged it when Gamestop had the game new for $30 as a sale)
Ghostbusters
Sacred 2 (for me and the wife to play; sadly, it's just not any good)
and this fall i'm getting
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves*
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack In Time*
Dragon Age: Origins
Demo...
i can barely afford my current gaming list:
Uncharted 2 (Must own. Guaranteed buy)
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time (Must own. Guaranteed buy)
Assassin's Creed 2
Borderlands
Dragon Age: Origins (Bioware finally makes a game on a Playstation console!)
other notable titles on my list:
Batman: Arkham Asylum (please don't suck! you look to awesome to suck!)
MAG (if it's good, i may have to buy it)
Ninja Gaiden Sig...
which sounds way creepier (and more accurate, actually; i just can't reconcile me being 30 years old and "playing" with Milo, whereas with EyePet, at least it's a little dog/monkey/Monchichi hybrid that looks adorable and won't net me funny looks when friends come over. Milo creeps me the f*ck out, honestly).
it's buggy, but so is the 360 and PC version.
visually, it looks pretty awesome on my 40" Samsung.
the controls are good.
i'm failing to see how Bethesda dropped the ball with the PS3 version of Fallout 3.
what, are there a few pixels missing or something? if that's the case, then its negligible.
this isn't like 2007, when games like Splinter Cell: Double Agent were laughable and inexcusable.
nowadays, develope...
the order of the developer doesn't matter, they are 10 of the best developers in the industry, and they all exclusively make products for the Playstation family (in particular, the Playstation 3).
Insomniac has already produced 4 incredible PS3 games in three years, with a fifth on the way in a few months. they're second party, but since very game they've ever produced has been exclusive to the Playstation consoles, we may as well count them as first party.
Naughty D...
was from jealous fanboys who were guffawing at the delay of Heavy Rain and White Knight Chronicles to 2010, claiming the PS3's lineup was dwindling and therefore unimpressive.
once Splinter Cell: Conviction got delayed on the 360 however, people stopped mentioning the PS3's Fall 2009 lineup, which still consists of:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Demon Souls
MAG
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

the Playstation 3 has the exclusives that i want to play, so i believe it has the best lineup of exclusives now, and in the foreseeable future.

Demon Souls (been hearing too much good stuff about this game, i'm beginning to think it may be quality)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (it was good on the 360, so why wouldn't an enhanced version with more playable characters, and online co-op be any worse?)
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
