I think people misunderstand what they mean by investing in the technology. What Microsoft did with the 360 was basically take a high spec gaming PC and stick it in a box with a new operating system, Sony on the other hand spent tons of money designing a new architecture based on their cell processor.

The result was a machine more powerful in some respects and weaker in others that if utilised correctly would surpass the highest affordable standard of gaming PC at that time ...

@Firstkn1ghT, assuming you're not a troll, the fact is that the online gaming aspect of the Xbox360 IS locked out entirely if you don't subscribe, whether you want their "high quality" services or not.

Comparing it with TV doesn't really apply here, either, you're paying for access to the channels more so than the connection to them. That's more like paying for games than paying for an internet connection.

Xbox Live forces you to...

The day any console wishes to charge me for the liberty of using my own internet connection is the day I lose all interest in it. I'd rather save those pennies and buy a gaming PC. I'm really hoping that Microsoft won't end up making it a standard practice, there's just no benefit for the customer as far as I'm concerned. It's bad enough that paid DLC seems to be part of every game now, but at least I can ignore that.

I've said this so many times already but a hardcore control scheme should work for the games, games shouldn't have to be built around the controller. The fact that Moves best hardcore games can be played with the dualshock is exactly why it works so well.

The author, even with his clearly limited capacity, even seemed to acknowledge that at one point, but then resorted to:

"it's true to say that the games work just as well, if not better with...

Okay fair enough, I made a mistake on the internet. I still stand by what I said though.

@Bigpappy - you miss my point. I'm not saying this game should use a controller. I'm saying this games only purpose is to try and give some worth to kinect.

It's not a fun game being designed and implemented from the ground up with performance in mind, it's clearly another game designed for kinect where performance and responsiveness is an afterthought. ...

I don't want to sound like a troll or anything, but really? This game looks like another temperamental hit and mostly miss shovelware title. I feel like everyone's so desperate for a game worth buying that we're making special rules just for the kinect. The technology is great, perhaps, but what good is that when the gameplay is simply obscure gesture based and doesn't work half the time?

I've used it for Heavy Rain and it's also my (much) preferred controller for Killzone 3. I consider myself a hardcore gamer and thus far I love Move, as long as more support is yet to come I don't see how it could be considered a failure. It's the only motion controller that I feel is working for my games, rather than the other way around.

You're totally correct. Sony are absolutely inferior to Microsoft in every way. I'm going to trade my PS3 in right away in exchange for a host of Microsoft products and services. Thank you so much for posting such clear minded and unbiased opinions on this website all the time.

I'm absolutely sure that you have already swayed the minds of so many Sony customers who clearly unwittingly purchased consoles and games that they actually didn't enjoy! Please keep s...

Wait, PSN is down?

I went through a phase of playing nothing but Patapon for two weeks and it got to the point where my dreams would be to the theme of the game. To the extent where a dream conversation would require a full set of successful beats between each sentence. Violence in video games doesn't make children violent, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a Patapon-suicide.

I loved that ending. For some reason I tend to automatically sway towards happier endings even though I enjoy a tragic one much more, so this really helped keep the story alive for me.

I'm pretty sure the reported headaches are more to do with the collision between the stereopsis feedback (the artificial 3D) and the oculomotor feedback, which is another measurement of depth made through the focal distance of your eye lens. Since your eyes are focused on the flat screen a few feet away from you your brain has to deal with two completely contradicting senses.

I used a pair for a week but I can't hold both L1 and L2 at the same time comfortably with them on. It's probably my spastic fingers though, I haven't tried it with the 360 controller actually so I may suffer the same problem. Don't judge me :(

The triggers are the only part of the 360 controller I'd like on my DS3. I never understood the arguments for the analogue stick positioning on the 360, surely if it's beneficial to have the stick higher up you'd do it for the right stick or for both?

I like everything else on the DS3, I just want some proper triggers! Although I use Move for FPS's when I can so this might be a non-issue in the foreseeable future.

And you guys are so much better whining about them? There are fanboys on both sides and all articles/websites get infested. Ignore them like everyone else.

I have my fingers crossed, if they would just swallow some pride they could make a genuinely good control scheme out of this.

People either angered by this article or agreeing with it should reconsider their position as a consumer. We should all feel pity. Pity for the state of the online gaming community, pity for the online gaming media and pity for those on either side of whichever spectrum who feel they have to waste hours of their day marketing (poorly) for their company of choice for free.

Not sure if you're genuinely clueless or not but you don't need to submit your credit card details in order to purchase through the playstation store.

I'd also suggest waiting for an actual job role within Microsoft before spending your days campaigning on their behalf.

I couldn't care less about Sony's sales, nor do I care about Sony's reputation. As a gamer I feel I currently have enough options and a bright enough looking future to not rely on any system in particular.

Having said that, anyone willingly trading in their PS3 due to the downtime is either completely oblivious to the nature of the fault or was already planning to do it.

Also, if you were trading in a PS3 in exchange for a more robust and feature-...

"In a sense, outages like this should be expected with the PlayStation Network. It's a free service (unlike Xbox Live) and as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for."

I cringe and die a little inside every time I read this. How do these people get to make money from writing this rubbish?

Sony probably suck for not giving us enough information, it's possible they also suck for not fixing it fast enough but these things we simply don...
