Got stuff to give away, and you could get it published as a real review (as a guest).
PirateThom: It IS a review of the product. The final product boasts a single-player campaign they promised, when in fact, it's not a campaign but a multiplayer teaser.
cpayne93: Yes. The single-player drags the score down, as well it should in my eyes.
I would like address a few of the questions/concerns shown here:
Firstly, I will never understand the sheer hatred people have for the campaigns in CoD and Battlefield 3. Those got 9s from me because the multiplayer AND the campaigns were very good. Plus, the campaigns were CAMPAIGNS, and not mere warm-ups for the multiplayer.
Secondly, I did not review MGS4; one of my colleagues did. And it's entirely irrelevant, anyway, as MGS4 is almost entirely cam...
The idea that reviews are all opinion is a complete fallacy, as is the idea that if a reviewer doesn't like a particular genre, the score will be "crap."
That's entirely untrue and if you're reviewing games that way, you're doing it wrong. There are both objective and subjective parts to a review; saying it's all opinion is an insult to the critics and presumes that anyone who plays video games can do it. I listen to music...doesn't make me...
Wow...simply incredible that nobody reads a single solitary word of articles beside the headline. Not a single comment addressing the actual content, per usual.
Everything that generates discussion is "flamebait," but only because the maturity level at N4G is that of a low-IQ group of hyenas.
Gee...compare the asinine comments here and the comments on the article at PSXE and it's HILARIOUS that people in this hellhole have the gall to...yeah, w...
That's a pile of crap.
You really think journalists would've responded the way they did if the fans had simply said, "We're not really satisfied with the ending, and we'd appreciate it if BioWare did something about it"...?
No, the journalists were responding to the disgusting attitude, which I cited in the article. The knee-jerk, completely unwarranted bashing, the "ME3 sucks, BioWare sucks, and if they don't change it imm...
I would just like to clarify, for the sake of harmony, that the article I wrote is designed specifically to pacify and nothing more. Not taking a stance, just trying to calm everyone down.
Gaming is supposed to be fun. The last thing I want is for the fans to forget that.

A great example of what multiplayer gaming has done to the industry. Can't just leave it at, "single-player campaign is one of the best available." No, not anymore. Yay.
I'd like to thank a few members for some decent, non-inflammatory comments. We have indeed been around for a while, and regardless of what people may assume about the name of the site, we will stack our reviews up against anybody, anywhere. It's nice to see some people actually READING the review.
Arnold K. knows what he's talking about in terms of racing and cars, and you absolutely need someone like that for a game like GT5. IGN...I won't comment. But I ...
And this post is stupid because the poster obviously has no clue about the history of the machines in question. You're going to completely ignore the four full years when Microsoft got $150 out of the MILLIONS worldwide who had a dead 360? Do you really think that warranty deal was there the whole time...?
MS was finally forced to do it after the world's biggest electronics and consumer sources called them out for issuing such a horrendously faulty product. Sony do...
If either of you somehow believe that your personal experience completely nullifies the catastrophic reliability of the 360, cited by hundreds of sources in the past five years, you're too stupid to chew your own food.
Fun to lie, isn't it? What have you read at our site? Would nothing be an accurate assumption?
In the past few months, I've done an entire feature article PROMOTING Halo: Reach and how much I like it, and PSXE readers know I had a 360 long before the PS3. I also have questioned Move's supposed widespread appeal, questioned Plus, and questioned Sony's business practices in the first part of this generation (low hardware availability, little software, etc.). ...
Thanks. Keep being hostile towards people and sites you know nothing about. Don't READ anything there, God forbid.
I just have to know. Does any single N4G member ever read even one word of an article that gets on here? Or has everyone in this digital age contracted at least some form of ADHD and can't even read long titles, let alone whole articles?

You did, too? Me and a friend would play TM2 co-op all the time; he was Grimm and I was Warthog. Everything you say is true; it took definite skill and cooperative planning.
He always had trouble staying alive on the Rooftops in NY and I hated Holland (Field of Screams). ;)

Just wondering...but am I not allowed to post about the PlayStation 3 or its games in a positive or negative manner? Why is it that absolutely every op-ed piece with an opinion (that's part of the "op-ed," people) is considered flamebait?
Oh, wait...I know. Because the level of hostility and hatred on message boards has gone through the roof due to an insane level of insecurity. 'sigh' I sort of miss the days without the Internet when people actually...
Cyrox: Oh, I dumped 100 hours into FFXIII, too. It was a great game. I gave it an 8.7 (feel free to read it) and made a special point of saying it would've received a 9+ easy if I didn't have to compare it to the rest of the franchise. If it was a new IP with an entirely new name, I can guarantee the average review score for that game would rise by at least .5.
But that's the point. The fans know what we want; what we've always wanted. It's not really...
Lost Odyssey is awesome. I'd be first in line to get a sequel if they ever did one.
I understand exactly what you're saying and I respect Wada for attempting to make a crucial change in an ailing Japanese industry. No, technically, you're not wrong.
However, Square-Enix is indeed doing what you're saying - tapping Western developers to deliver games they think Westerners will want - but what about the other side? The side I spoke about in the article? The Japanese gamers (their bread and butter, usually) and the millions of long-time follower...
That really isn't true, my friend. We've known it would have a campaign since the game was announced.
If it has a campaign, and it's called a campaign, it needs to act like a campaign. If it's nothing more than a multiplayer tutorial, that will disappoint anyone interested in the single-player option.
That cannot be overlooked.
